Burger & Cream — Restaurant in Auburn

Honestly I have no idea what the high rating reviews for this place are! We both got the western bacon cheeseburger and felt it was flavorless! I just don't know when I have ever had a burger as flavorless! Really the only flavor that was there was, was the barbecue sauce. The fries were okay. We each got a dessert after. He got a strawberry milkshake which was nice and thick, just a basic strawberry shake though, nothing spectacular. I got the thing that's like a blizzard, I can't remember what it's called, but it was Vanilla soft serve with caramel sauce and heath candy bits and it was very very basic. They were pretty miserly on the caramel and the candy bits. In addition they had given me a double cup which I didn't realize, but when I did and I went to separate them, ice cream spilled all over me, all over my car seat, all over my seat belt, all over my clothes and made a huge mess because they had double cupped it due to a big hole in the first one. Why not just give me an entirely new cup!? Overall, based on the reviews that we read, our expectations were way way higher than what we got. New favorite food place for nights you’re driving up or down Tahoe! Food was delicious, absolutely no complaints on the food. They seemed to either be understaffed or not equipped to handle more than 10 orders in a row. If you order from outside, you can get a peek of what’s happening in the kitchen and it is quite a nightmare. There is trash and food all over the floor such as french fries, buns, napkins, and old order receipts. Employees are willingly stepping all over it as they shuffle to complete people’s orders. Totally understand when you’re in a rush you can’t think to stop to clean up, but man, if they had at least one person per shift assigned to strictly deal with cleaning up messes and wiping down counters, they would be in a much better position whenever the county health department wants to randomly pay a visit. It’s a little off putting to see when you order from outside and see what’s going on behind the cashier. I do appreciate that they all wear gloves when they cook or prep food. Their common dining areas are well kept too! I will still return despite the mess because their burgers are fantastic and way better to buy than in n out on your way up to Tahoe - support small businesses! Open till 10 so you can definitely make it from the East Bay if leaving after 5 pm....

So so good! We went on national ice cream day or whatever it was. The food was far better than expected! The onion rings were so crunchy and the batter tasted so good. I don't even like onion rings but my husband got them and I couldn't stop eating his! I got the western chicken sandwich. Everything tasted really good and fresh. The chicken was cooked perfect and not dry. My husband said it was a great burger. He said the meat was perfectly seasoned and juicy. My daughter whom we like to call the hamburgler because that's all she ever wants, said the burger was one of the best she's ever had. The ice cream treats we got were great! My daughter got a plain cone and it was so big she couldn't finish it. I got a twisty which is like a DQ blizzard I think. I got banana, peanut butter and brownie and it was BOMB! My husband got a shake. Everything exceeded expectations. The only complaint was the patio was enclosed with 3 walls. It was so hot and stuffy in there. They don't have fans to keep the air moving and it was just got and stagnant out there and with limited seating inside you will most likely be out on that hot patio. I suggest overhead fans and misters. We came for the ice cream but we will be back...
