Entire experience was terrible. I love Denny's but have had 2 bad encounters with the Auburn location. First time it was really busy so orders got a little messed up and took a while. It was fine. Went back tonight/this morning (12:30am-3am **daylight savings) and instantly regretted walking in the doors. It was so busy (nothing unusual, not a part that bothered me but is an important part of the big picture) that there was a huge line. Some people getting to go orders, some waiting to be seated. There was no order to the madness and no one seemed to know what was going on. Finally got seated and waited quite a while for someone to take our drink order. We ordered apps at the same time. It was very obvious that there was an issue with under staffing. As more people started coming in the employees started getting frazzled. So much so that we could hear them bickering back and forth, throwing their arms up in the air and the manager was visibly shaken and crying while seating tables and taking orders. We ordered our entrees and she actually fought with me about what I was ordering. That I couldn't get the dulce de leche pancakes with a build your own grand slam "Because the pancakes themselves are $7". All she had to say was there would be a upcharge or that I could get the dulce de leche breakfast (which I ended up finding and figuring out myself.) My sister and I went for the scrambled eggs, our favorite. When our food got to our table things were missing (I never got my water or toast. I got bacon instead of the sausage I ordered.) My sister's entire meal was wrong and had to be sent back. AND THE EGGS WERE BURNT. Anyine who has ever eaten at Denny's knows what the scrambled eggs are supposed to look like. Light, fluffy clouds of deliciousness. Ours were dark brown, hard and flat. We told the manager that we weren't happy with the mistakes and she started crying at our table as she took my sister's plate to be fixed. By the time her new order came back (without any mention of fixing my eggs at all) we decided to leave because we were getting increasingly more irritated about the whole situation. We put our food in to-do boxes and had to wait another 20 minutes to get checks/pay. I wanted to complain more while I was there but honestly didn't want to make her cry again. In the midst of all of this she found the time to chat with a table that someone she knew was seated at. Gossiping about people being fired and whatever other drama was going on between her co-workers. The whole experience was awful and really,...
Read moreGood food, good service. Friendly staff. Sketchy area, building is run down. Ate the last meal here with the spouse and was overcharged $5 ($2.49 each). Difficult for me to write this, but the time has come: Tired of dealing with the nickeling and diming on meals. Watch your bill closely every time. The printed menu says one thing and they over charge by putting in extras. Example from posted photos: Ordered steak with 2 sides as in the list - potato and salad. Was charged an extra $2.49 for the salad. When I questioned the waitress, I was told it was because the salad was in its own dish, not on the main plate and she never took off the extra $2.49 charge. I had a rough day and was exhausted and just wanted to get back to the house, so I shut up and paid for it. I should have asked for the manager.
What a load of nonsense! No where on that menu states anything about an extra charge for something not on the plate. Excuse me, but it is a side item in the list. Other times I have gone, I was not charged extra because as the menu states, the entree comes with 2 sides.
On another occasion, I got the Crazy Spicy Sizzling Skillet and the menu said to add 2 eggs for $1.00 and so I did. I got the check and was charged a total of $6.98 for the addition of 2 eggs. If I hadn't caught that, and questioned that, I would be out nearly $7 for 2 eggs! That time, the cashier said it was an error in how the server rang it up. Alright, no problem, we all make errors. This seems to be a pattern that is developing and I feel like I need something like a prenuptial agreement before ordering and that I have to...
Read moreIve been here two Saturdays in the last month and both times were very disappointing. Possibly due to the same waitress. The first time there were only about 9 tables, 2 waitresses and our food took about 25 minutes for eggs pancakes and nachos. Despite taking so long my boyfriends pancakes were somehow undercooked. It took another 15 minutes for his replacements as they weren't expidited at all. Nor were they refunded 😑. I also had to track our waitress down for a refill despite seeing them standing around chatting a lot. Today's visit the food was good and thankfully didn't take to long to arrive. We did have to ask someone for the syrup that should have came with our food. And again we saw a lot of standing around and it took about 15 minutes after we finished our food and had piles of dishes for another waitress to ask if we needed anything else. She said she's new.. she must not know the ignore the customer rule 🙄. I've been coming to this denny's periodically for about 12 years now. This has been some of the worst service I've seen. I don't expect much. I tip a minimum of %15 if they just drop off food and %20 if I get checked up on and asked if I want a refill anything beyond that %25+ I was going to tip %10 but I know with covid times are tough. On the flip side though with less customers you'd think the wait staff would be more on top of things. To add insult to injury I wanted dessert but there was no apple crisp prepared and was told it'd be about 30 minutes. I don't plan on coming back...
