This was my first time here, we arrived at 7:30 pm for dinner, we had no greeting from staff when we walked in. There were 6 other customers there besides us, not busy at all. The waitress was really nice but super distracted and seemed very rushed. The customer sitting at the bar turned out to be an employee whom I watched serve herself and other employees drinks and shots from the bar and was vaping. The F bomb was thrown around a couple times, quite loudly in the staff conversation. When the waitress asked us what drinks we wanted, my husband asked if they had a non alcoholic drink menu and she said no, not offering any choices, so he just ordered water, I ordered coffee and a glass of water, she stated "I don't have any coffee made" so I guess that meant that she wouldn't make any...the coffee pot was 2 feet from our table and I thought about making it myself, as it was a cold night and they had the door propped open. I have never had a restaurant refuse to make coffee. ever. We both got chili and mine was cold, his was 1/2 hot and 1/2 warmish, we couldn't get her attention so we just switched bowls. The food was very good except for the chili situation. I had the pork steak meal, he had chicken tenders. I would give this place another try, only because of the food, the cheese sticks were amazing, but should come with a choice of marinara or ranch, ours just came with ranch. Also noted that the menu choices were very...
Read moreMimi's is basically a bar where you can get a meal. Not surprisingly , t was very much a tavern atmosphere. There were a lot of loud conversations and a lot of drunken yelling and laughing. My son lives in Auburn so when I went to visit him he recommended that we have dinner at Mimi's. It was Friday evening so the place was busy which made it quite difficult to have a conversation. However, that is understandable being that it is a bar. I only saw a couple of people serving customers. Our waitress, while very sweet, was having a great deal of difficulty keeping up with the needs of her customers. Our drinks and salads arrived fairly quickly but our main course took an additional 20 to 25 minutes to be served. We both ordered salmon and when we cut into it we found that both of us had been served raw salmon that was just warm on the outside. It took another 10 minutes to get the waitresses attention so we could send it back to be cooked. All that being said we still really enjoyed ourselves and once our salmon was fully cooked we really enjoyed that as well. I think maybe we caught them on an off night . I definitely plan to try Mimi's again. The next time I'm definitely going to try...
Read moreWhile visiting the DeKalb Fair this week, we decided to try MiMi’s Retreat Bar instead of eating fair food. We were greeted right away when we walked in, which was a nice start.
Our server was friendly and took our orders promptly. My husband had the grilled chicken sandwich, I ordered the breaded tenderloin, and we shared fries. The sandwiches were good, but the fries were a bit disappointing—very small portion for nearly $5 extra. They were thin, McDonald’s-style fries.
The bar wasn’t busy during our visit, with only a couple tables occupied at a time. Staff seemed to know most guests personally, greeting them with hugs. The music was loud, which may be fun for some, but felt a little overwhelming to us.
The biggest issue was the restrooms, which had a very strong odor that made the experience unpleasant.
Overall, the food itself was decent, but the portion sizes, loud atmosphere, and restroom cleanliness kept it from being a...
