My friends and ourselves were on a double date in downtown auburn and decided to stop and try this restaurant because the food seemed appetizing. The water guy was amazing as every few minutes he kept coming back and filling up our waters. The food was very good. The calamari was honestly the best cooked that we have had in a long time. Salads had fresh ingredients, the seafood to pasta ratio in the seafood pasta was very generous. Food came out about as fast as you would expect for a packed Saturday night. The look of the restaurant was cute and fun. This place was clearly very popular. The olive oil was light and fresh and the vinegar was not too pungent. The bread was sourdough and was fresh enough but not right out of the oven. I marked down 2 stars for three main reasons, the restrooms were always occupied and were clearly not adequate to the amount of guests. The second reason was the price we paid vs the relatively small portions we got with things like the crab cakes. Bonus reason, we arrived a few minutes before they opened and they easily could of let us sit but turned us away for the few minutes left before opening. The third reason, is that our waitress gave my friend the look of death when he asked her not to throw away salad even if it didn't come out right. They asked for their salad with dressing on the side and it came out with dressing in it, and being that they didn't want to waste food they asked if the salad was going to be tossed and if it was just to leave it. The waitress very quickly grabbed the salad and gave my friend the look of death and said "no! We are going to throw it away" it really just ruined the mood of the evening. It made us feel like we were trash just because we didn't want food in the trash. Keep in mind it was their kitchen that messed it up. It was clear that our waitress had too much to handle that night because she was giving stern talkings to the other staff from what we could tell. So atmosphere wise this place seemed kind of hostile and we aren't sure if we ever want to be out through that again even if the food is good and the location is cute.

We had an amazing dinner with exceptional service by Erica tonight. Erica was so welcoming and enjoyable. We shared the beet salad and it was out of this world and the creamy blue cheese and tangy vinaigrette paired perfectly with the roasted beets. Mike had the rack of lamb which came with roasted fennel and Brussels sprouts and it was delicious. I had the seafood rissotto which was equally delicious. We both thoroughly enjoyed the food, ambiance and thank you Erica for providing exceptional service. Highly recommend.

Amazing food! The patio seating has a great ambiance. They were wonderfully flexible with our party of 6 switching from indoor to outdoor seating last minute. Everything on the menu was stellar. Our group enjoyed the full variety of the menu: crab stuffed salmon special, stir fry, risotto, chicken, & filet mignon didn't disappoint. We can't wait to come back. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Thank you.

My future daughter in law asked me if I could help put together a rehearsal lunch or dinner for their wedding...I was so honored and wanted to make sure that I found the perfect place. After visiting various restaurants, The Monkey Cat was it!! The owners, Jennifer and Jared, made sure we were well taken care of and their party coordinator, Erica, made planning and coordinating a dream! We had a group of 29 - the "party room" could handle 25 people maximum but Erica set up an area on their patio for the overflow and it worked out perfect! Our group included vegans, vegetarians, gluten free, dairy free, and a combination of "all of the above" individuals - which can be a challenge for many restaurants. Erica navigated these waters with ease and we had a menu that addressed all of our requests. Since the wedding rehearsal was at 10:30am in Forest Hill, we decided to have a rehearsal lunch at The Monkey Cat immediately following our rehearsal. Erica opened the doors up early so that a friend of mine could enter the party room and decorate prior to our arrival. The place settings were perfect and the food was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed scrumptious appetizers at every table, a choice of 2 salads along with 3 entree options. Everything was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals! The service was fantastic! All of the staff were so gracious, friendly and fun - high energy and they genuinely care. I felt truly Blessed to have found this restaurant and look forward to having more dinners, lunches and parties there in the future! If you want to have a memorable event - I highly recommend the...

Usually great food and service but had a bad experience that was never handled. I called in a pick up order for my wife and I about two weeks ago, my food was fine but they accidentally put cheese on her burger. Luckily she noticed it in the car before I drove away so I went back in to get another. The server (maybe Gabby?, not sure) was apologetic and professional and went back to the kitchen right away. They had another burger for me in just a few minutes and we were on our way, no big deal. Once we got home and my wife went to eat her food it became obvious that whoever was in the kitchen had just scraped the cheese off. Unfortunately, that meant that she couldn’t eat it and we had to toss it. I called back and spoke to the same server (again, professional and courteous) and let her know about the great cheese scandal of 2018. She offered another burger but we live up the hill a bit and it would have been a hassle to go back to town. She then offered to send us a gift certificate in the mail which would have totally resolved this. I gave her our names and address and hung up after vowing not to blow them up on the internet. Well, here we are two weeks later and no certificate. Maybe someone just forgot? Not sure but I feel like this was mishandled at every opportunity

I just changed the review from 1 star to three because the gift card finally showed up. If it hadn’t taken a month I would have just deleted this review all...
