This was my first time at Freddie's and it will be my last time at Freddie's. I will continue to drive from my house off Berkley Rd to get my Chinese food from Green Tea off Havendale Rd which is an extra 3 mile drive. I will say that everything tasted fine, which is the only reason this won't be a 1 star review. Now for the negatives... I ordered (10) Crab Rangoon and a Qt each of Pork Fried Rice, Bourbon Chicken, and Pork Lo Mein. My biggest problem was with the "Crab Rangoon". Listed verbatim on the menu as Crab Rangoon (10@$4.95), these are NOT the traditional Crab Rangoon (usually sold as Krab Rangoon because it uses imitation crab, not real crab, and is usually mixed with a garlic, green onions and non-sweet cream cheese mixture). Rather these are cheaper "Cheese Wonton" type imposters that have more of a sweet icing type cream cheese mixture and what seemed like no other ingredients. That is total bait and switch advertising in my opinion and I bought something I did not want. Take a look at the photo attached and you will see that there's hardly anything in these! Even more of a disappointment. I will say I suspect a lot of Chinese restaurants are doing this to be fair though, not just this place. The Qt of Bourbon Chicken (@$9.50 ) was not packaged like the rest of our Qt portions were and appeared undersized as a result. For that reason, I did not think we got enough bourbon chicken for the price . I had no issues with the Qt of Pork Fried Rice (@$7.50) or the Qt of Pork Lo Mein (@$7.75). I recommend trying Green Tea if you live in Auburndale area as I've ordered many items from there and never was disappointed (maybe spoiled by them?) I've bought many things from them and always tasted great. Their lunch combos will feed you for 2 days, no joke. And they have a "bucket" portion on some popular choices and I recommend trying that if you want more for your money. For dinner, I get the Pork Lo Mein bucket for $16.95 feeds me, my wife, 3 kids and still have leftovers.
First impressions are VERY important. Won't be coming...
Read moreThis is definitely a grab and go type Chinese food. We just moved to Winter Haven from Lakeland and have been looking for a decent Chinese place. It is cleaner than most and has good service. It’s decent Chinese food, it’s hot and fresh. They have tofu and veggie options and we feel like for the price we received a fair portion. I had to give it four stars because compared to our usual place in Lakeland they come in second. We will be ordering again and plan to make them our go to for Chinese. They do have an extensive menu and fast service. People complaining about prices in previous reviews, obviously have not been in a grocery store lately! It is what is people! Go find less. We don’t eat out all the time like most, so spending a little extra is ok. Businesses are allowed to make money. We will be...
Read moreI just moved to Auburndale from the New Jersey/New York area. Finding a good Chinese food place was a priority for me when I moved into the area. I am extremely happy that I finally found Freddy's Chinese Food. The other Chinese food places in Auburndale were just not good at all. Freddy's is a small take-out place that is very clean. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and have great people-skills. Customer service is excellent! The chicken wings were large, crispy and extremely moist and not dry. The pepper steak and onions was also very flavorful and exactly like what you would get in China town in NYC. I am going to be a regular customer now and try other items on the menu. If you want real Chinese food in Auburndale, then you need to stop by Freddy's...
