Ike's Eats & Treats — Restaurant in Auburndale

We give 5 stars, not because this is a full serve restaurant, but for the quality of authentic Chicago food. The Italian beef sandwich was awesome with a nice au-jus for dipping. We like spicy so we asked the owner to put hot peppers on it and it was fabulous. The beef was all lean and tender and we learned that all meat products are shipped to the restaurant from Chicago. My wife and i split the sandwich then ordered hot dogs. She had a chili-dog and I had an authentic Chicago dog. These hot dogs are also shipped from Vienna meats in Chicago and they were awesome, providing the snap you should get from a natural casing hot dog. She said the chili-dog was the best ever and my Chicago dog was authentic down to the hot sports pepper and the neon green relish that you cannot get any other place in Polk County. The ice creams are made in South Florida and are fantastic...best coconut fudge & praline ever! The owner/managers are friendly and focused on customer satisfaction. Restaurant and bathrooms are very clean. The window tables provide a nice view of the downtown Auburndale park. If you have kids there is a nice arcade inside the restaurant. Ike's is in a great little town named Auburndale, in Polk County, Fl. I've been craving a good dog lately. The star's aligned and I walked into Ike's! It's a throwback. Half Ice Cream Shoppe half Hot Dog stand half arcade. Quality of the dog itself was amazing. It snapped when I bit into it. That's what you want, a hotdog that's cooked perfect. Ike's uses Vienna's as the star of the show. I had a Chicago dog. First ever for me. The veggies were crisp, the tomato with the celery salt on top of the 🧅 was awesome. Luckyly for me I had a spoon to scoop all that goodness back on top of my dog. (The tomato came in slices thank God) I'm sure they will chop up some for you, but I like slices. I don't often write reviews, but when I do it's usually because I'm feeling very strong emotions about a place.....and I feel fantastic emotions about this place! I was expecting a semi-decent hot dog place when I first walked in, and was utterly surprised when I tasted the delicious Italian beef sandwich. I loved it so much, I came back the next day and ate it again, and I never do that! On top of the amazingly delicious food, the owners are very nice down to earth and personable, and will often take the time to chat with you at your table....and the prices are very reasonable.
