Pizza Connection — Restaurant in Auburndale

The staff, when entering and taking an order, was great.She was very nice and had a smile on her face, and she was polite. However, while waiting for our pizza.I noticed that no one wore gloves. Everyone was handling the pizza with their bare hands. I watched the same guy who started with the pizza, answered the telephone , and then went back to the pizza. Disgusting My boyfriend insists it must be an amazing pizza, seeing how many people were ordering. He was excited to order the Italian steak sandwich, too. So we ordered. Our wait was over an hour. If I knew they sold beer, I might have ordered that to kill that time, but there were no drink selections offered, so we went with the tea. Anyway , the food finally came such a disappointment. Canned mushrooms on the pizza gross. The crust was thin and crunchy, and that wasn't too bad. The sauce was bland. I watched the guy pour alot of garlic powder on the paper board then lay the dough on top of that (before he answer the phone bare handed) so I got a mouth full of the dry garlic seasoning with every bite. Also, it's not tasty. And let's not forget the steak sandwich. It was like a frozen salisbury steak patty without the sauce. The bread had a thin layer of what i'm guessing was tomato sauce. But the sandwich was dry.It looked like something that you would get in a cafeteria. Called to place an order and was put on hold for 10 minutes, after an employee picked up to phone twice just to say please hold again. Decided to go in and order since we don't live too far away and they obviously couldn't be bothered to answer the phone because we used to love their pizza. Placed an order inside at 6:43 and told 25 minutes, which is fine considering they have to make it. To abide by the social distancing guidelines clearly posted on the door, we chose to stand by the chips. Stood there waiting on our food for about 25 minutes and an employee decides we need to move because we were "confusing customers", there was ONE person waiting to place an order after a good dozen or so had already placed or gotten their order and we weren't "confusing customers" then. If people can't ask a simple question about whether we've placed an order or not that is not my problem, it's theirs. Not even 2 minutes after having to move our order was ready so it was pointless for us to move anyways. A friend works here and jokingly said to take her with me so I said "yeah now we won't be in people's way" to which the same employee that told us to move decided he needed to say "I didn't say you were in the way I said you were confusing them". This place overall is good but there were a few things that I could just not overlook. Let us start with the good things though, the price is not bad for what you get, the crust of this pizza is just fantastic! I love how it is so thin and crispy and cooked just right and the sauce tasted good.

Now for the things I did not like at all, some of their toppings are not fresh. For example the rubbery mushrooms come from a can obviously which absolutely is unpleasant (for me at least), and if the mushrooms are not fresh what else do they skimp on, they need to put a little more sauce on the pies so we can really enjoy the flavor and when they are pretty busy (usually at night) they will not answer the phone. We called the place so many times and they didn't answer that we were about to just order chinese but we really wanted pizza that night.

This place could definitely be better and I want them to be better because with crust like theirs they could easily have fantastic pizza.

On a side note, you have to order at the register first before you sit down. There is some table service, you have to get your own soda, and they later bring you your food.
