First and foremost, I love this diner, yet the other day was most definitely an off day! Lisa ( our server is exceptional ! ) I ordered the only thing I ever order there, Egg’s Benedict! I have always taken my now six year old granddaughter with me! This day, my order came.. the eggs were over done. Lisa didn’t hesitate to take them back to the kitchen! I also told her the Hollandaise sauce was t good, something was definitely off. Lisa asked if I wanted my breakfast redone. My answer no thanks. She asked if I wanted a different breakfast, no thank you. Then the “cook” said his Hollandaise sauce was perfect, that was it! I grew up and lived in NYC prior to marrying and moving here. Eggs Benedict originated in NYC. I’ve had it at this diner at least 40 times! It’s that good!! While leaving , at the register the young lady checking me out asked me how our brunch was, I told her. A different waitress dark blonde hair standing next to me said, “ there was nothing wrong with your poached eggs that’s how they come. I thought to myself why is she commenting , I have a lovely waitress I ask for all the time? I said excuse me they weren’t poached eggs the middle was entirely cooked, they were runny in the least . This waitress’s comments had me so flustered I forgot to leave my tip for Lisa.. I walked out thinking Where’s Michael? Where’s the owner? Why am I being followed around by a waitress and why is she standing next to me at the register telling me about an issue that was taken care of by my waitress Lisa? Just simply crazy .. look I’m not a know it all in the least .. yet I do know what I’ve eaten there and everywhere else while having this for brunch. I easily spend $45 plus tip and I’m generous too! Sadly … I won’t be back with my young granddaughter.. I’m not dealing with that nonsense. That waitress needs to mind her own business but then again maybe she’s married...
Read moreJust moved to the area. The first visit to the Legacy Diner was great...had a wonderful lunch. The food was wonderful & staff was very friendly. The 2nd time around not so much. Talk about night and day! I ordered the fried scallops with fries & coleslaw. The scallops were overdone & nearly cold, fries were the same temperature :( the cole slaw was the only enjoyable part of the meal. Waitress NEVER came back to check on us and, trust me, busy it was not! When we were pretty fed up and just asked for the check as she was whizzing by, all we got back was "yeah". Then she appears with the check, leaves it with us saying "Have a good night". Soooo....I take the check up to the person at the register, expecting him to ask "How was everything" and nope...not a word. Looked at like I have 3 heads when I ask if I can leave some constructive criticism. Not one to be deterred, I calmly said everything I wanted to say and was met with an occasion "mm-hmm" every so often. At the end of my explanation of what we had experienced, all he said was "I'll take 10% off your check". No apology...no nothing. Just offered to give us 10% off of a really highly priced bad meal. Told him "no thank you", that's not why I'm telling you about our experience. I'm not asking for you to take anything off my bill because I want you to take me seriously and not just think I'm a complainer so I can get something for free. Anyway...his closing statement was..."well, when you come back, if you come back, I'll give you a different waitress". sigh Trust me, we...
Read moreBest diner in South Jersey. I’ve been to many diners in my life, and I appreciate a good, authentic Jersey Diner, and this is it. We have been coming here for over 10 years and the quality has never declined, even after tough times for everyone during the pandemic. This diner has an expansive menu, diner classics and authentic Greek food as well. Their Greek classics like gyros, homemade Tzatziki sauce, Greek salad are fantastic… the Moussaka is amazing, and for dessert, not only do they have an amazing Baklava, they also have a Baklava-Cheesecake that is one of the best desserts I’ve had. If you like classic diner food, you can’t beat their breakfasts. Their sandwiches are nice big portions, the fries are just right and they’ve got a good variety of salads. Their soups are also very good. They also have a fresh bakery with cookies the size of a softball and really cute Sesame Street character cupcakes that kids will love. We tend to come in large groups of family or friends, and they are always able to accommodate groups, which is great. It’s also a larger diner with plenty of parking. The diner has a warm, cozy environment, has always been clean and generally comfortable. In the decade-plus that I’ve been coming here, the wait staff have always been so friendly and pleasant. The owner is often there and is a hospitable and welcoming gentleman. If you’re looking for an authentic Jersey diner, or just a nice casual place e to have a meal with your family or friends, this is the...
