Food here is delicious (as long as you have no food allergies or food intolerances), but I was looking forward to this place because they ask you about food allergies when you make a reservation. Unfortunately, our server appeared as though she had never heard of food allergies, didn't seemed concerned at all, and never mentioned it again after I informed her of a peanut and tree nut allergy. There was no confirmation from the kitchen or manager, as usually happens when we dine in a well-educated and well-run kitchen, and there was no communication about what was safe and what was not safe to consume. I had to ask if all the ingredients were listed on the menu, which she said they were- untrue. They brought out hummus full of walnuts and did not inform me that they had tree nuts inside, even after I communicated the allergy. I informed them of my allergy ahead of coming, too, as I noted it on my reservation -- AND they asked about food allergies when making a reservation, so one would think they would be well-equipped to handle. So, while the food was delicious for my group, I was extremely uncomfortable based on their lack of education and care as it relates to life-threatening food allergies. I...
Read moreThere is nothing I don’t like about Boychik at Stanley Marketplace. The staff, from front of house, to the bartenders, to the wait staff was friendly and accommodating. We warned them that we might be “camping out” a bit, and they never rushed us. Even when things became busier, and the bar area filled up. As for the food, “extraordinary” doesn’t begin to cover it. The hummus is so silky smooth, and tasty, I could have eaten a bowl of that on its own. The muhummara, which I’d never had before was so flavourful, and a delightful experience. For entrees, we had the lamb gyro and the falafel bowls, which came with more of that “to die for” hummus, and they did not disappoint at all. It was worth the trip from Westminster, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Boychik to anyone who likes oMediterranean food, or anyone just looking for an extraordinary dining experience. 15/10 would recommend. Boychik was an unexpected delight and I can’t wait to...
Read moreIt took a minute to make the connection that this place is Israeli. When I saw a place called Boychik was opening, I expected matzo ball soup and pastrami.
We were actually about to give it a try anyway, but as we were walking into the Stanly Marketplace, the owner (maybe?) came running out of the restaurant to follow a protester (I'm guessing) This man had opened the door and yelled something in support of Palestine and kept walking into the Marketplace, not the restaurant space. The owner? then chased after him saying this guy supported geocide and so on. The protester was with his family including a young child.
It was really alarming that a business owner would prioritize his political agenda over operating his business.
