Technically I would give 2.5 stars however, google won't allow for that. This seems to be a great place for large groups that like to drink or get drunk and therefore are not very concerned about what the food taste like.
My experience with Casa Vallarta- I called to place an order to be picked up, I could hear a woman on the other end of the phone laughing and talking to someone, "Hello, Hello", next I was hung up on. Being late Sunday evening I did not have much to choose from in the way of Mexican food so I called back. Placed an order asking for a combo with a guacamole tostada. Arrived to pick up my order, upon checking the order I noticed I was charged $15 + for two tacos. The cashier was very friendly and quickly tried to correct the order however, it took some time as the corrected orders were also wrong. That really wasn't a problem as she was friendly and polite.
My problem was with the food, it was very one note tasting as if someone purchased an dry enchilada seasoning packet from King Soopers and seasoned EVERYTHING with it. The rice, beans, taco meat Evertything tasted the same, very bland. I received a huge bag of chips that seemed freshly made however, the cook did not drain the grease off of them and the brown bag holding the chips was soaked through with grease spots from chips that were practically dripping with grease. The chips also had an off flavor as if the frying oil had been used to cook other items or was simply old. The chips also did not have a speck of salt on them so I ended up throwing them out.
There was lots of fresh shredded lettuce and cheese on my order, so that was a plus. The portion sizes are very generous. I also had a couple of large slices of tomato on top of my order along with large slices of avocado however, nothing was seasoned. it was severed with no lemons, limes etc. And they manged to to cook Mexican food with no onions or cilantro. The taco meat was also greasy and flavorless, the food just literally tasted as if someone opened a bottle of canola oil and poured it over everything with no seasoning, it just tasted like oil. I ate one taco and a few bites of rice and beans then was hoping I would see some homeless person to give the rest of the food away to because I felt terrible about throwing so much food. 80% of my combo meal went to...
Read moreI have been coming here for years. I recently went for dinner and was charged $145 when my tab was approximately $65. I get it mistakes happen. That’s fine so I asked the restaurant to make it right. I spoke to the manager on the phone who apologized and told me to come down and she would refund me. I headed down and she tried to present me with a $70 gift certificate to the restaurant. I say no I want a refund and I I show her the transaction from my bank. She says there’s no reason it should’ve taken me a week to realize. I told her I do not check my transactions every day. After arguing with me She finally agreed to give me $70 cash. I said at this point it has been a big inconvenience and I believe the meal should be comped. I had to drive down, sat on hold with my bank for over 30 minutes , and had to call the restaurant over 10 times for them to finally answer. She said no she will not give me any more money and then a waitress also started arguing with me. I believe it is bad business after this huge inconvenience to not be refunded and in its entirety, because that is what I was told on the phone. I do not believe this was intentional by the waiter. But the way the manager handled this was inappropriate. I did not deserve to be argued with by her and some random waitress that I was never talking to. Pretty bummed that a place I have frequented treated...
Read moreI judge based on Mexican and tex mex as well as home made dishes of food I've had in South Texas for 30plus years. I ordered the shredded beef enchiladas which comes with rice and beans. Colorado again has another restaurant which serves refried cheap can beans but at least they top it with some cheese to cover up the stale taste and appearance. The rice wasn't like any traditional style of rice I've ever had. It wanted to be it's own custom style of spices, which is fine if it tastes great but it didn't. The enchiladas were swimming in a pool of red Chile sauce, very little cheese on top of the enchiladas and none inside, which I'm used to having cheese inside as well. The sauce was basically Tabasco sauce, it was very spicy which is fine if you wanted spicy food or enjoy Tabasco, but for me it wasn't flavorful, just hidden with spicy sauce, no base flavor to look for and enjoy. The chips were good, the salsa was different and very cilantro strong flavored but not bad. The sopas were ok but I like them with just honey. They used cinnamon sugar, honey, chocolate syrup and even whip. Which was a little too sweet but still good. The service was nice enough but never got a refill. I find it sad that this is considered a top restaurant for Mexican food...
