I've heard so many good things about this place and we were excited to try it, but my husband and I left pretty disappointed. I'm unsure what the issue was but we came in at 1:20pm on Sunday, June 19, and we were immediately seated at Table 7. Shortly afterward, someone else brought us waters and 2 sets of bowls and spoons. The spoons had a dried rice grain stuck on the very tip of it (where you'd slurp out of) from the washer so we pointed it out and asked for a couple new ones. We asked for both of them to be replaced because they were stacked on top of each other so the dried food touched both spoons. Either she wiped off the rice and brought it back to us or she brought us new ones that were also dirty because I could still see where the rice was at the tip of the spoon. I'm Filipino and I grew up eating rice and hand-washing my dishes so I know what wiped away rice grains against eating utensils look like. You can’t really see it in the picture, but the area around the food was wet like from a towel or cloth. I took the replacement spoon with the rice mark and placed it on the end of the table so we didn't use it and my husband and I shared one spoon. We ordered Pan Fried Pork, Boiled Cabbage with Pork and Shrimp, & a Steamed Soup Dumpling. I bit into the top of my XLB to cool down the soup inside and pour sauce inside it and to my surprise there was no soup. I thought I was mistaking the XLB for another dumpling. I ate it whole and the meat was juicy like it was supposed to be the soup dumpling so I was confused. Then I looked at the XLB and nearly every one, except for a few, had a small hole near the bottom so the soup had leaked out... We hadn't eaten all morning and my husband and I aren't one to complain to management, so we grabbed a to-go box and left. Maybe they were having an off day or were understaffed, but our food and experience weren't that great. The pictures of the same food from other reviews looked so different and led us to eat here in the first place, but that's not what we...

To those people that believe Gluten Free is the answer to a healthier diet (myself included) keep in mind that the cereal grain 'wheat' has over 30 subspecies and humans have been eating this gluten for over 10,000 years since Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq).
Masons Dumpling Shop started in 2001CE with original founders who opened first store in San Gabriel Valley (SGV in the Los Angles area) they've expanded to Aurora CO win for me and you. Their menu is closely related to 'Din Tai Fung' but mom and pop style.
Dumplings are always crispy good served in person or reheated in a toaster oven. What stands out here are the appetizers, the ingredients are fresh and it's gluten free, vegan free, but not money free.
Parking lot is fairly busy next to liquor store. The evening dining room gets crowded so I recommend take out dinner with the ToastTab app. I love the concept and hope they keep their menu small and focused.
Pork Belly Bun - on Wikipedia 'Red braised pork belly' you can read about the history and how to make the sauce. A Bao 包子 bun is basically a stuffed taco with meat. This one came with spicy chili oil.
Bok Choy, Seaweed salad, wood ear, lotus roots, and smoked tofu are great options for gluten free believers (less than 1% of population actually have celiac disease) alright I'll stop fuming the gluten debate.
Happy families always make JiaoZi 饺子 together during new year celebrations, and they never eat orange...

Swung by early Saturday right at opening time and was the second order for the day. I picked up some goodies for my husband and myself, as well as two friends. Right now they are offering a limited menu for takeout and you can order online, by phone, or by walk-in.
They have vegetarian options and even gluten free options (the pork belly rice bowl and beef rice bowls for example are gluten free, as well as many sides). I got the steamed vegan dumplings and the vegetarian beef rice bowl, while my husband got the beef rice bowl. Everything is very filling and both rice bowls were delicious. The vegetarian beef is a soy protein but is very flavorful, with a texture very close to actual beef. I poured their chili oil all over the steamed dumplings and those were pretty good as well. The vegan dumplings contain mushroom, carrot, bean curd, cabbage, glass noodles, and they are seriously STUFFED.
My friends ordered the beef bowl, the pork belly rice bowl, and the chive dumplings. They preferred the pork belly rice bowl. I tried one of the chive dumplings but liked the steamed vegan ones more. I would recommend eating your dumplings while they are still hot. Right now during COVID-19 precaution time, they are only allowing a very limited number of people in the shop. Order and then wait outside until it is ready. Staff is very friendly.
Great food, Mason's Dumplings Shop definitely met high expectations based on the hype of their LA location. I do look forward to their soup dumplings (I LOVE soup dumplings), so can't wait until they start offering those again! Will definitely be back to try more things, well...
