As a photographer and video producer, I’ve often worked on assignment at the MLK Library while providing event photography, videography, and while using their public and rentable spaces for photographing headshots or filming interviews. Check out the photos I’ve uploaded with this review and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about!
I can tell you that while documenting the Fall Food Justice Festival, Canvas Fest, and National Night Out, it’s not been hard to find smiling community members to take pictures of! There’s a nice variety of areas that are in the open sun, areas that are shaded by trees, and benches for people to rest on. Library management is usually kind enough to also have bottles of water available at the security desk to offer to vendors on days that are particularly warm.
And even on non-event days, I have found the library and security staff very friendly and helpful when scheduling use of their spaces. It’s worth noting that there’s an available conference room available for use on the second floor with a great view of the Aurora Fox Arts Center marquee which works great as a backdrop for filming talking head segments.
Also, as a resident of NW Aurora I really appreciate how much this library can do with its limited space. The library often holds free public events that they themselves produce, they provide a computer lab, display art created by locals in the lobby, and provide a full array of rentable movies, comics, books, and more. I’m very excited to see what they have in mind for their...

Read moreExtremely disappointed in this library and will never come or attend any events here. We enrolled our son into their Saturday early literacy class at 10:30. I got a confirmation the day before that it was still happening. Went to the library, felt completely unsafe when we parked. My husband went in to confirm that it was happening as the parking lot was EMPTY. They had no idea what we were talking about even after showing them the confirmation. They then said it was cancelled after saying they had no idea what we were talking about. No sympathy, solution, or acknowledgment. Disappointed in the community, this library and just...
