Parkway Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Aurora

I came here pretty often a few years back and loved their mac and cheese with mushrooms and also their beef tips with buttered noodles. Sad to say, but they no longer have either option on the menu. In my most recent visit I tried to call ahead of time to ask about the current wait, but the phone line was disconnected every time I called. When we arrived, I asked the hostess about my favorite Mac and cheese dish, and she said that she actually didn't know the menu and told me to wait for the server so that I could ask her. Her response surprised me, but I brushed it off for the moment. When we sat at the table, our waitress took our drink order and did not return for over 5 minutes and then took our food order without bringing our drinks out for an extra 5 minutes. I asked her about my Mac and cheese dish, and if I ordered the dish without chicken, if the price would decrease. She said it would be the same price with or without the chicken. I asked her to double check with a manager, and when she returned we would order. I ended up ordering the Mac and cheese, but the garlic bread that is supposed to come on the side did not come out. When I asked about the bread, I was told it would be right out. We did not receive the bread until I called the waitress over to ask for boxes for our meals. My once favorite restaurant has definitely dropped to near the bottom...

I will NEVER go back here. Our party got there around 1~2PM on Tuesday when it was not a peak time for lunch. We placed our order (fish chips and nachos) and were waiting patiently. We still saw a handful of people coming through after we sat down. After 30-40 min of waiting, we flagged down our server and asked for the timeline of our order because we saw other tables who came definitely later than us got their drinks and food all at their table. Meanwhile, we didn't want to be rude because delays happen sometimes. The server said it will be out in 10 min, so we waited again. But 15 min passed and still no food. When we talk to the server, again, their explanation was "somehow the kitchen was not receiving orders due to the order machines technical issues" but the thing is as we were waiting we actually tracked other tables (who came later than us) and almost every tables got their order and enjoying their meal. I really didnt want to assume anything, but we were the only people of color there. And somehow, (a) our order never went through, and (b) almost in 50 mins, nobody came to our table and checked if we were doing okay. We were just so done with it when we waited literally an hour and got no service, so we left. That is my experience with this place. I never felt more ignored than...

I have been here a handful of times and one thing I can say is the experience has been consistent. This is hard to say in this day and age, especially when you don't really frequent chain restaurants that often. Here at the Parkway, the staff has always been friendly and attentive. The waitress (I wish I could remember her name) was pretty busy the entire time and had several tables she was working, but never left our table needing anything. As far as the food goes, I can't recall having anything that wasn't satisfying... but if you want your socks knocked off, just go ahead and order the shrimp mac and cheese or the lobster mac and cheese, I can pretty much GUARANTEE that you will be back again. Along with the mac and cheese, I've had the wings... those are good too. Anything you get on the menu is going to have extremely large portions, so whatever amount it costs, don't complain, it is WELL worth it. To sum it all up, this is a cool neighborhood bar, not the closest one to my house, but I am definitely willing to Uber or drive an extra five minutes for good food and a solid customer experience.
