I've been coming here for some time. The food has been so good. I've always done pickup for my orders and while sometimes, the wait time is a bit lengthy, it's always been on time that they told me. This time was no so. Ordered at 5:45pm, told I could pick up order at 7:05PM. So an hour and 20 minute wait. Arrived at 7:05 and told it would be another 20 minutes. When I said really, I was told to be here at 7:05PM and he showed me the receipt the order was placed on and it had that same time written down. I said I was confused. He had to go get someone, she came out from the kitchen and said, we'll rush it for you and get it out to you in 10 minutes. No emotion and no apologies. I said ok. We went outside and waited for 10 minutes and came back inside. The guy once again had to go get the girl and she came back out and again said it'll be another 10-15 minutes. I didn't say anything because I expected an apology once she came back out. Instead she handed me the box, no emotion on her face and without a word. All in all we waited at the restaurant for 20 minutes plus another 80 minutes before arriving. Generally their food is worth the wait although the customer service this time, was missing. We felt as if we were inconveniencing them. Back home I'm telling our guests who'd never had their food before that at least the food would be amazing and worth the wait. Alas, total disappointment. My husband had the noodle bowl with chicken, no flavor, no seasoning. I had the Pad Thai with chicken which I've had before and it was so good. Not this time. Noodles were soggy, flavor was just ok and chicken was nearly missing in action. All I could find were tiny little pieces about the size of a pea or less, mostly noodles. I was a bit embarrassed as I'd made such a big deal to guests how...
Read moreI've had three negative experiences with this restaurant recently. The first one wasn't exactly the restaurants fault, the person sitting next to my table ordered before me and received his food after me and threw a temper tantrum in the restaurant. That being said I called to order food to go about a month ago and was told it was going to take over a half an hour to get my order. I said well then I don't want to order food I don't have time, thank you anyway. So I thought maybe it was just that instance. I called today to order food to go at 10 minutes to noon. I was told that my order of red curry chicken, and Satay chicken would take 30 to 45 minutes to be ready. I was a little taken aback, how can a lunch order take so long to be prepared. I said that I was calling before the rush of lunch so that I could get my order in. The person speaking to me on the phone told me that they were "going" to have a busy lunch and that it would take 30 to 45 minutes. (Curry, that's already cooked, Satay that just needs to be warmed up, 30 to 45 minutes...) I said just cancel the order. I decided after I picked up my daughter from school at 2:30 that we would go and get some food. Their hours show that lunch ends at 3 p.m. We got there at 10 minutes to 3:00, and the restaurant already had their closed sign up. I don't know if they have new owners or what's going on because this place used to be epic in service. But in the past couple months it has just gone way down hill. Now I won't give them one star because the food is still good but the service...
Read moreThis was the most awkward dining experience I've ever had. Pearl of Siam is in a strip mall and the interior and exterior is dilapidated, and the appearance raised concerns about the health, safety, and sanitation standards of the management.
The food took too long. Like really long. We had seven people at our table, and it took half an hour for appetizers to come out.
The service was bad. I was last to arrive, and had to pointedly ask the waiter for water.
Our actual main course took an hour to come out. The food was passable, but the portions small. I have cooked better Thai food at home.
This was not the main issue, however.
When we went to pay, the owner was running the register. He was rude, overcharged us, and kept insinuating that we were dishonest and did not want to pay for our food. He also tried to talk to me about religion in the same breath as he was trying to scam me out of $20.
One of our friends had to come back to the restaurant, have her original transaction voided, and pay an additional $5, while I paid the correct price and $25 less for my food - overall a $20 swing. I pointed out this fact to him, and he wouldn't take responsibility for his own mistake, instead saying that some people are dishonest.
Yes, they are.
In summary, the owner is a prick who tried to overcharge me and my friends while attempting to lecture me about being dishonest. He is likely a Raiders fan. Food is 2/5, service 1/5, don't go here.
