An hour is well worth the trek for the delicious lamb ribs- the fried dry garlic topping is so delish. We got 3 âșïž
Taishanese cauliflowers were perfectly seasoned two ways. Chef put a nice mix of woodsear, nagaimo, carrot đ„, celery in one and an amazing malai sauce the other.
Steamed shrimp đŠ with bean threads topped with minced garlic was as good as it looks per family.
So it helps that we speak Cantonese/Mandarin but they are super friendly regardless. Good food requires waiting especially there is only 1 chef.
The chef needs a Michelin âïž
2023: Yes đ Cantonese food lives đ It has been a discouraging decade as Chinatownâs Cantonese chefs retired. But alas Red Pepper delivers.

Read moreI was at the food court today with my friend, and I was craving some delicious Chinese food. I stopped at Red Pepper because they seemed to have a more extensive menu with different options compared to their competitors. I had a slight miscommunication incident with the gentleman at the counter where I said I wanted salted fish but didnât specify I wanted the fried rice, and he assumed that I wanted the eggplant dish which I didnât know existed. I felt really bad because I didnât want the food to go to waste, and I was really excited for the fried rice thinking that was what I ordered. They actually offered to switch it out for me, which I can really appreciate. I know it wasnât easy for a small business, and I ended up loving my food so much. I highly recommend Red Pepper to anyone in the area looking for authentic Chinese cuisine. One tip I will say is to make sure you say exactly what you want when ordering, and make sure theyâre on the same page with you before you checkout to avoid any confusion or...
Read moreI am in complete agreement with the review in Chinese below: some (cooking talent), but no virtue. Mediocre overall, but indeed the best Chinese food in the food court. My group ordered $100+ food to share from this place (2 orders of $35 + $35) and their sister restaurant (Ah-Yin's) BBQ ($40 + $40 to go). So I asked for 8 paper plates to share BC the BBQ place told me to get the servewares from Red Pepper. The chef gave me an attitude after my $35 order and 8 plates and I explained to him we ordered a lot of food from the BBQ place and we have 2 orders with them. The guy was very rude told me to âjust waitâ then started cussing in Cantonese about the plates to this other Lady in the back. He just went on and on and on until I told the other lady in Cantonese,âI don't feel comfortable speaking in Cantonese BC of my accent, but I understood every word he said about my mother. Although I won't reciprocate the courtesy to his mother, I am sure his family is really proud.â That look...
