2023: Updated review to include dining at The French Press 3 stars
Eager to savor the vegan biscuits and gravy once more, I stopped by to dine in this time. The service was friendly, but the prices were notably high. While the biscuits and gravy were enjoyable, the overall experience was overshadowed by noticeable uncleanliness. The sauce holder at our table was stuck to the counter, creating discomfort. Sadly, chipped and dirty-looking coffee mugs further detracted from the potential charm of the place. Despite its regular following, cleanliness issues need addressing for a truly enjoyable dining atmosphere.
2022 Review: Delivery 4 stars I've been craving biscuits and gravy, but being a vegan, the only way I'm going to eat biscuits and gravy, is to basically make them myself. Neither is an easy task to create. Hence the procrastination and continued craving.
I recently took a trip to Denver to visit my grandma. When we looked at different places to order for delivery, I found The French Press. Once I saw vegan biscuits and gravy on their menu, that sealed the deal. I ordered: Vegan Biscuits & Gravy, a side of Fruit Salad and a Mocha Latte with Oat Milk.
The vegan biscuits and gravy came with potatoes, collard greens and tomatoes. The collard greens were cooked well and had a hint of heat. The stewed tomatoes were perfect for acidity. The potatoes were okay. I liked the seasoning, but some of them were chewy and overcooked. But. That. Gravy! I could have ate it by the spoonfuls, and maybe I did! It tasted just as I remember gravy tasting. I don't know how they made it, but wow. The biscuits were soft and a great base to soak up the gravy. Overall this dish was exactly what I was looking for. It had a good balance of flavors, was fun to eat, and it brought me much comfort
I liked that the fruit was cut in small and similar proportions. It also tasted fresh.
They were not stingy on the chocolate sauce for the mocha latte. It almost tasted like a chocolate milk which is good! I was also impressed that it was still hot by the time it got to me.
I'll definitely be back during my next...
Read moreWe were finished with our doctor appointment, and decided to stop at the French Press for breakfast. I am so glad we did!
It's a small place, located in it's own small building. There are approximately 12 - 15 tables inside the restaurant. It's a tight fit, but so worth it. There are also several tables outside the restaurant as well, so you can enjoy our meal in the Colorado sunshine.
The interior is of browns, blacks, white, and cream tones. The floor is a cement type floor, so easy to keep clean. There is music playing in the background, and it's a bit noisy, but we still enjoyed our meal.
The menu is up along the wall, so look up to your left, rather than above the cash register. The drink menu is up along the wall to right. The menu includes items for breakfast and lunch, with the description below each food item.
When you walk in, the counter where your order is taken, is up just a bit. I bet you will have to wait in line, but it's worth the wait. I ordered the American breakfast, which is my usual bacon, eggs, potatoes, and toast. I enjoyed my breakfast, as did my husband. My husband had the huevos rancheros, and they were very good. Of course, I had to try his dish, and it was good as well. The coffee, the dark roast, was very good too.
Once you order, you take the number given to you, place it on your table, and wait for your food to be brought to you. You won't have to wait that long.
While there, plenty of people came in to enjoy the good food. We thought that they will eventually need more room, as the place was crowded, which is a good sign.
Good prices, very good food, nice and comfortable inside, large parking lot that is shared with all of the businesses on the same lot, good service too.
The French Press is a good place for breakfast or lunch. See you there! It's worth the drive from where ever...
Read moreWe go almost every Saturday without any issues, today we waited our turn in line like every busy Saturday. When we got up to order we were told we would have to take our food to go, that they were too busy and didn’t have any tables. We had already scouted our quite a few people leaving, so politely told them we would rather wait for a table. The cashier got extremely rude and told us that she was putting it in as to go and if we could eat outside if anything else. Immediately after paying, the next customers were allowed to have their food as eat in. The people before weren’t told they would have to leave either. So we waited in line for 15 minutes to be rudely told to leave. It’s a seat yourself environment, and for some reason today their was some girl telling people they weren’t allowed to sit at tables. If you’re willing to proactively ask someone for their table, IN A SEAT YOURSELF RESTAURANT you shouldn’t be told you aren’t allowed to sit there. While we patiently waited for our food, we insisted we would wait for a table. We’ve never had issues in the past, we saw another few tables about to leave. I went up to the cashier to tell her that we found a table and not to put our food in to go boxes please. Again, extremely rude saying if there were tables then find, but there weren’t any so we would just see. Within 1 minute two tables left. If the staff is unable to handle the stress of Saturday brunch without being rude...they are in the wrong industry. We will not be returning after being singled out and being told to leave after waiting so long for a nice...
