So let me first start by saying that the food service was impeccable. My server and her steward were PHENOMENAL. Friendly and knowledgable of their menu. Food was delicious, especially the creme brulee and caviar service. From top to top the experience was amazing.
However, my rating is so low due to the interaction I had with the General Manager. This particular gentleman approached our table with no directional greeting. I asked him how I could help him and he told me and my sister who he was and that he was here to help me. We started chatting about the food and complimented the EVOO marmalade with salt flakes. It was at this point he said it was like "crack in a ramekin." It was loud so I thought he said there was a crack in the ramekin. He repeated himself 2 other times when it dawned on me that he was referencing the drug, "crack."
SOOOOOOOO.......I am spending $200+ per person at my table, for my birthday and the general manager is talking to me about street drugs? Are you profiling me because I am covered in tattoos, including my face? That's offensive enough but in all reality, both my sister and I are in recovery and don't need to be thinking about street drugs while spending a good amount of money for our meal. Super poor taste. It also doesn't help him that I came up through the food scene in SF and have been trained by 2 Michelin starred chefs.
I also tried to send this message via IG but with no answer, they left me no choice but to take my...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday at Aris, at my suggestion, based on their online reviews and pictures. We both love a great steakhouse and I was looking for something different than all the usual Austin steakhouses. I can tell you - it was a spectacular choice!
First of all, we are big foodies and easily go out to a very nice restaurant several times a month. We've been to most if not all of the great Austin restaurants. Second, we love meat and are willing to pay top dollar for a great steak.
Aris did not disappoint. In fact - they exceeded our expectations. The carpaccio was amazing - rivaled Carbones. In fact, I've never had a better carpaccio than Carbones and this one came close. We had the tomato salad, which was over the top! I could have ordered and enjoyed a second. The steaks, perfectly seasoned and cooked medium rare. Dessert portions were extremely generous. We ordered two desserts since portions tend to be small - but we would have been perfectly happy with one. The service was great - the management team is doing an exemplary job building culture and team spirit. It seems the entire staff takes responsibility for every guest feeling served and taken care of. Atmosphere and decor was beautiful. Loved the lighing!
One last thing, I rarely ever write a review - but selfishly I want Aris to be an Austin staple and be around for a long time. If I could give Aris 6 stars I...
