Big Vinny's BBQ — Restaurant in Austin

Big Vinny’s… been hearing about this place for a minute. Every fiber of my soul told me to go and get Brisket from this place. What an experience! I walked up and the guy inside says “hey, what’s your name?” I tell him “Tah”. He says Tah. I’m Big Vinny. “How are you today?” I told him “I am amazing, stupendous, miraculous and I am hearing all about your fantastic grub.” He smiled with the confidence if a 15 foot gorilla in a world of 2 foot tall monkeys. I asked if he preferred me to use cash or card. We had a brief and pleasant convo on how cash benefits us both, so I ran back to my truck and got cash. I ordered $20 of lean brisket. Fam… socks knocked completely off!!! This was the thickest, most satisfying cuts of brisket I have had to date. This is not the dainty, thin sliced brisket they serve at 99% of the barbecue joints in Austin. This is Brisket for a brisket lover. Even though the meat was leaan, there was the perfect amount of fat on the edges and the char on the ends was PERFECT! I feel like I got more than the amount I asked for. Big Vinny told me he appreciated my positive energy. Game recognize game Big Vinny! Thanks for the amazing energy and the AWESOME brisket! I will be back with a $20 spot ready for some top notch brisket again really soon and I’m bringing friends and telling everyone. That should totally be on the menu… TWENTY-DOLLA-BRISKET…. Let’s go. This Shit Is Legit!!!

Ok now that I’m back to my place and can really put into words how much this plate blessed my soul.

I cannot get over the delicate, harmonious flavor of the smoked brisket. I do not like a smoke that over powers and this was such a delight to taste. The meat is so moist and tender that even hours later, it tastes fresh, lively, and balanced.

I ordered the Big Vinny and that Sausage is savory, so moist, perfectly cooked, with the right crunch to the casing. I couldn’t get enough! (I’m kicking myself for not ordering 2 to go!! At $4 a piece it is so well worth it!!) I loved the sausage.

The beans! Such a beautiful sauce. Not too think, not too thick, just the right amount to bathe the beans, yet leave some for the bread.

The coleslaw, with that fresh Lemon zing was a great paring: I love my pickles, so I asked for extra, and added to the slaw was just the zing zing I needed in my mouth!!

I’m practically licking this styrofoam container over this meal, and I HIGHLY recommend that you stop here when you’re in the area. I may just have to drive over two hours for this plate again…. Well worth the yumminess involved.

Sigh…. It was just what my belly needed.

Revisited on Apr 30th. Same 5 star quality Bbq with NEW trailer upgrade! Big Vinny and Brandon are "The Bbq Dynamic Duo of SoCo"! See new pics. Big Vinny BBQ is WOW! Austin has a plethora of Great Bbq establishments. Its hard to name who is the best. However, Big Vinny has separated himself from the herd. He has great food but the separation comes with repor. He takes the time to talk with you. This is my 2nd visit with many more to come. He genuinely cares about those that stop at his Bbq trailer located on South Congress. Both times, we have conversated about things other than bbq or as I refer to it as "burnt meat". Its hard to drive past the aromas of brisket chicken and sausage from other big restaurant pits, I'll admit. But its made easy when Big Vinny listens and cares about those that make...
