The Austin Texas House — Hotel in Austin

The Austin TX House is not just a house, it’s an experience. It’s in THE best location to stay in Austin. The famous Greetings from Austin mural is right down the street and you can walk to nearly ALL of the classic food joints—Torchy’s Tacos, Home Slice Pizza, Amy’s Ice Cream, Jo’s Coffee, Bouldin Creek Cafe, the list goes on. If you don’t feel like walking, there are electric scooters all over the neighborhood to rent for a reasonable price. The neighborhood is artsy but not pretentious, active but not loud, and socioeconomically diverse. There’s an EV charging station a few blocks away.

The house itself is bright, colorful, and screams Austin in all the best ways. It’s rustic yet modern with plenty of smart storage space and all of the creature comforts we thought we’d miss from home. The linens are high quality, the kitchen is fully stocked, and the bathroom had everything we needed: good smelling soap, shampoo, conditioner, plenty of towels, and a hair dryer. The fridge came stocked with a few bottles of water and beer.

Chris, the host, is a laid-back Gen-X renaissance man who lives next door with his sidekicks Mokie the beautiful bearded dog and Pumpkin the goat. They are the most authentic ambassadors to Austin you could ask for. Chris gave us a tour of the house and drove us around town for a quick tour of the city to help us get acclimated and his recommendations were spot-on. He was super friendly and available while also respecting our privacy. We could tell he puts a lot of time and effort into creating the best Austin experience for his guests.

My daughter and I went to Austin for a mother/daughter trip. We had the most amazing time, and we attribute much of that to Chris' incredible hospitality. His place is so adorable and in a great location, but it was truly Chris that made the trip exceed expectations. He should receive an award for Best Airbnb Host. He gave us a tour of Austin, took us on a bike ride, and even drove us to our concert venue so that we wouldn't have to book an Uber or park downtown. Hands-down the best, most beautiful place you could rent in Austin! Location is 10/10 and Chris is an impeccable host, full of personal, local recommendations. I loved chatting with him on the porch and playing with Mika the dog! I'm already plotting my return because 1 week wasn't enough!
