The female business owner or manager of this establishment harassed and intimidated underage children in this particular situation. I cannot tell if prejudice is involved but buyer beware. My child was on a family trip with a friend and her parents. They excitedly went into the store to browse. In short order, the lady of the store accused my daughter and her friend of stealing, saying they had stolen from her last week. I think she may have even told them to put something down. My daughter nor this family have ever been to this store, and they were not in Austin last week. The mom that was with my child tried to tell the lady that there must be some terrible mistake and explain to her, but she persisted. Of course, my daughter was stunned. My daughter described being shocked at such an accusation and having no words after her aggressive behavior towards her. The family eventually left. I’m sure not without having some choice words for the lady in the store, but I can’t argue with that after having been put in such a dreadful position. These were children, and she didn’t even try to address the adults with them. How can you accuse? Maybe go check your cameras or print out a picture and have to compare instead of driving away paying customers in a store that didn’t have any other customers. I’m so glad this did not one bit ruin my daughter’s day. All it did was show her what a great family her friend has. One that would take care of her and keep her safe. I can understand the negative feeling of being stolen from as a store owner, but that is no excuse to mistreat the wrong person/people for your negligence in being more vigilant when it...
Read moreThis store is a gem! I'm betting that it is one of Austin's most popular gift shops, possibly even the most popular by far! So much variety, it's hard to decide what to buy! They have a little bit of everything, and then some. I've only been here twice. The first time I was with my best friend, and we were the only people in the store. I went back again to buy a gift, and it was really busy. The people who run the store are very nice. I highly recommend to anyone, locals or tourists, to please stop in and take a look around. I guarantee you will not leave until you buy something. It's...
Read moreI love Prima Dora! They have a very cool selection of local Austin stuff (a lot by local artists & businesses!) mixed in with a well-curated selection of all-occasion gifts. The people who work there are kind and warm, and the merchandise is very reasonably priced. It's also very cool that you can browse the shop while waiting for a table at Magnolia Cafe next door & they'll call you over the intercom in the store when your...
