General manager Sarah yelled at us and chased us out while yelling at us.. - I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while since I moved over here. My dad and I decided to go today for lunch and the way my dad and I were treated was very unacceptable to me as someone who is a manager as well. We got there and sat down to wait to be seated. We waited 5ish minutes while we got stares from employees and then a family came in and were greeted extremely nicely and asked how many to be seated and immediately got seated. We didn’t get a greeting - just stares. Which was okay whatever my dad goes up and asks to be seated and we finally get seated. The manager was the one seating us and then asked us if we wanted any drinks. I noticed initially she was extremely loud and hostile with everything she said. My dad replied he wanted a beer and I wanted a margarita. She asked for our ID’s I showed her mine and my dad did not have his but she said a card with a matching last name would work so my dad said “here it is” and she didn’t reply so he repeated himself and she began to yell at him that it’s the law and she’s just doing her job.. I was extremely confused as he didn’t say anything for her to start yelling as she did. My dad told her to calm down and she replied yelling saying “CALM DOWN?” And then my dad preceded to say he had a brain injury to leave him alone and stop harassing him. She seemed appalled by what he was saying and replied “IM PREGNANT” and was making a scene which caused me to be very uncomfortable. Her employees basically convinced her to finally leave the table and she left us alone for the rest of our meal which I didn’t enjoy and was very worrisome because of what happened. I felt very unwanted the entire time there and would have felt better leaving but a server convinced us not to. At the end while leaving I asked for her name to go to corporate and she started that if that makes us feel better and that she would pray for us. As we left she chased us out to the door and yelled at us as we left. I sadly do not feel comfortable going here anymore which makes me sad since it’s across the street something does need to be done about the General manager here. She does not know how to talk to customers what so ever and from the way she spoke and yelled at us doesn’t seem to care at all about any...
Read moreWe have been going to Flores since the 90's. Stopped last night (Dec 30, 2016) around 8:30pm for drinks and appetizers in the bar area. I don't know how this restaurant passes health inspections. I should have taken pictures. The restaurant floor was disgusting, wet from spilled drinks, food and napkins on the bar floor and under the tables in the bar. Only one table at the bar was clean enough to sit on. The other tables had tops with food leftovers and wet from spilled drinks. There was a constant huddle of employees at the end of the bar close to where they make tortillas. They just seem to be socializing and none taking action to clean the tables and floors, or basically work. Went to the bathroom to find human feces on the floor outside the bathroom with a trail of feces coming from the women's bathroom. My wife went in the women's bathroom and reported more on the floor inside the bathroom. Men's bathroom floor was all wet, dirty and with wet hand towels strewn all around. It's beyond my comprehension on how Flores management could allow the restaurant to stay in this condition. I spoke to the manager which I found casually sitting at the end of the bar socializing with the employees hanging around that area. Even after telling him all what I had observed, very little action was taken to clean up the bar area/ restaurant or the bathrooms. The employees just seem to "hang out" (when we arrived, I had to get up to ask for someone to come take our orders). I will be reporting Flores on RR620 (Lakeway) to the health department and hope that they take action to clean up this place. We will give Flores one more chance in the future to see if they have taken action and raise the level and quality of the restaurant. If it turns out anywhere close to last night, we will find a higher quality and clean Tex-Mex restaurant to go to. Flores on RR620 has really gone downhill. Do...
Read moreComing from San Antonio, I have been searching for a great Mexican food restaurant. I am looking for a place that has great queso, yummy food and a margarita that rocks. With Flores, I have gotten close to this dream. Starting with their queso and homemade chips, I felt I had hit the jackpot. The queso was creamy and didn't taste like it came from a can. It went well with the large, warm chips that this restaurant will never let you run out of. Paired with La Flor(?) margarita and I still felt as if I was in the right place. The 'rita was strong, but didn't taste that way. With fresh lime juice, an orange wedge and cherry thrown in, this margarita is priced well for the flavor. The menu is a bit underwhelming though. There are your basic enchilada and taco plates, but the variety is a bit limited. I found myself settling for a plate that had some of the items I wanted, but not all. This seems to be the case with each visit, as I never really get the 'perfect' plate for me. I tend to stick with the cheese enchilada plate. With rice and refried beans, this is a simple platter that can be found anywhere. Flores makes it well and does have a few sauces to choose from. Additionally, I will pat them on the back for their salsa. It has a bit of a kick and isn't too chunky. I was less impressed with the guacamole. It didn't seem to retain the spices that make a great guac, and tasted like simple avocado. All said, Flores is still a great place to get a good drink and snack. The entrees are good, but nothing overly impressive. They are pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so be prepared to wait. Fortunately, the service is good when you do make it to a table. I have been back quite a few times and recommend it to those who live in the...
