Off the bat, if you're wondering about parties, they have 3 separate areas w picnic tables. No fees, no reservations, it's first come first serve. There's also tables by the pool for summer pool parties. YOU'RE WELCOME.
For general recreation, there's something for every age. For the kids you have a toddler area to crawl and toddle-climb, a nice rope jungle gym that I climb on as well, your typical playground equipment, a sandbox, and some spinny things. Everyone has been super friendly and my kids have had a great time w the other children.
For all ages you have a free pool w 2 lanes (iirc) and a big recreational swimming area complete w lifeguards, 2 tennis courts, a basketball court, and a field. I've seen some bootcamps and weird hipster-ball games played in the field. Everything is free but the pool is only open in the summer and possibly spring (I forget).
I've been going here since my youngest was a toddler, and if we stay in Austin my kids and I are going to be going to this park together until they're too cool for their old man, which is...

There's a hospital nearby with occasional sirens and my kid and some others keep running towards the noise wanting to see an ambulance/firetruck/police car and nothing preventing the kids from running into the street. A fence or wall would have been nice, atleast by the playground area to limit the # of exit points. Lastly, it can be a little dirtier compared to some of the other parks I have been to in the area.
But overall, a decent park, love the neighborhood and the big trees, and good...

I usually do not frequent neighborhood pools...the dirty, rude, and usually unattended kids...if I wanted this sort of CDC exposure I'd watch Outbreak and/or visit Atlanta.
But, to my surprise...this free community pool was actually bearable, dare I say, enjoyable?
They have semi-decent/clean changing facilities/bathrooms, a freshwater shower, AND a roped-off-from-the-masses swim lane!
There are two lifeguards on duty and every so often they clear the pool for 5mins. The deep end is an enjoyable 8ft w/a separated @5ft mark "kiddie pool"!
If you live or are visiting the neighborhood (as I was), check out this rarest of Austin Public...
