This is going to be a long review, so please bear with me.
We decided to give this restaurant a try while visiting Austin. The waitress was initially attentive and checked on us while we reviewed the menu to see what we wanted. She recommended the quesadillas so I decided to give it a try.
Once our food arrived, the service changed drastically. I took a bite of my food and was very dissatisfied with my meal. I could tell that the waitress was busy so I patiently waited for her to check on us so that I could let her know that I was not happy with my food.
25 minutes later my partner finished his food and the waitress still had not checked on us. By this time, things had slowed down and the customers she was helping had already left. We observed her laughing and talking to a coworker.
Another 15 minutes went by, I flagged her down and told her about my food. By then, I wasn't interested in ordering anything else. Nor did she ask me if I wanted to. Instead she replied "I'm not sure about you taste" and walked away.
We thought she would be returning with our check, but she never did. 15 minutes went by and I flagged her down again and requested the check. When she returned I noticed that the quesadilla hadn't been removed. I asked her about it and she said her manager told her couldn't take it off. The waitress proceeded to tell me that they have a no refund policy and it's on the menu.
I asked the waitress if she could show me where its listed. I reviewed the menu closely upon arrival and remember other disclaimers (i.e only 2 refills on chips), but did not see anything about no refund on quality of food. She could not find it on the menu and said she would talk to her manager.
The manager came to speak with us and I explained that I would have sent the food back sooner had the waitess came back to check on us.The manager stated that no one credits food just because it's sent back. She also never showed me the no refund policy. The waitress stopped by and the manager then proceed to reprimand the waitress for not checking on us. The waitress then says "so I didn't check on yall" I repeated "not after we received our food". The waitress said "wow" and walked away.
The manager offered to apply a 50% discount for my meal, I said "that's fine" and mentioned writing a review. When the manager returned with the check, she charged the full amount to my card. I questioned why the full amount had been charged when that was not what we discussed. The manager's response was "I decided not to give you a discount since you said you were going to write review".
At this point I felt she was being argumentative and the conversation was no longer productive. I was very shocked and appalled by this whole experience. It was never really about the money, the service and food was not up to standard. It was also the unnecessary lies such as "there is a no refund policy" but it cannot be located on the menu and then charging my card the full amount after telling me my meal would be discounted. I would have appreciated it more if she had just told me directly she changed her mind about the discount prior to charging my card.
The entire situation was unprofessional, misleading and agressive. We will...
Read moreMe and mine usually have a satisfying experience but my last visit Sunday brunch was way less than perfect.
We asked for chips and salsa and never got it. After the food arrived I inquired with mine to see if they were still desired. It was a no. Oh well, over it, but the server stated chips and salsa are not provided during breakfast/brunch hours. Why was this not explained when originally requested so we could have had a chance to order an alternative appetizer? What if we wanted queso or lunch instead of breakfast?
It's whatever, over it again.
My two tacos and one pancake hit t he spot.
After paying and just before heading out, I took a gander at the ticket. Charged $4 for one pancake! The description reads pancakes, plural. Two hot cakes for this price is appropriate, so what gives? Why not 1/2 the price for just the one cake, or again, advise at the moment the item is ordered of the inconsistency?
And what's even more egregious is the small cup of milk which was $5, a whole dollar more for not even a pint. I could have gone to the 7-11 next door and got a whole gallon for this inflated price.
It reads as though I am exaggerating but do mind the sales taxes involved.
I'll be back for sure, but it won't be for breakfast or brunch or during applicable...
Read moreThe food was INCREDIBLE! Everything seemed to be from scratch and very fresh. The portions were generous and very reasonably priced. I paid $14 for this Chimichanga. I recommend getting the Sopapillas for dessert too OMG! They were so good I ate them before snapping a pic.
The atmosphere was very cafeteria like with far too many table and chair set-ups. The perimeter of the dining area was lined with EMPTY booths so my friend and I asked to be seated in one after being put at a table in the CENTER of an ALMOST EMPTY restaurant. The Host REFUSED stating that she "had to follow a rotation" on her seating chart. However, after we got our chips and salsa appetizer two gentlemen that found themselves seated next to us at a table WERE ACCOMMODATED and ALLOWED to sit in a booth after requesting it twice! That BOTHERED me!! My friend and I weren't accommodated with our request--
Oh our "lovely" server! She clearly didn't want to be there, if you didn't ask for it, it wasn't given ... napkins!? Who uses those? ASK! Refill? Nope, ASK! The bill? Yup, you better ASK!! Everything was TOSSED at our table from a distance with short interactions. Boo! I might just order carryout next time because the...
