My husband Lee and I did a google search for the best BBQ in Austin. Google pulled up Jim’s Smokehouse BBQ as number 1, with a 5.0 star rating. Google gave us directions and and we followed. We arrived at Brad’s food prep trailer (and smoke trailer behind it) on the side of the road. Honestly, we are from Louisiana, out of town, and expected to see a large restaurant with this kind of rating and reviews. I was shocked my husband stopped the car and said let’s go check it out. We stood out front reading Brad’s menu and brief bio. My husband scanned the menu, approached the window, was greeted by Brad who was super cool and laid back. His personality is very easy going, generous, and instructive. He shared some delicious samples with us. Crisp, clean, well prepared, simple flavors, that all seemed to be tasted at different times in each bite. We sampled the different coleslaws and enjoyed the crisp cabbage, sweet taste, shortly followed by sriracha heat. Absolutely wonderful. This is a culinary genius at work, in his trailer with his smoker out back. A one man show of simple bold artistry that we have never seen or experienced. Standing on gravel eating the best flavors in BBQ we have ever experienced. Go by, stop, and enjoy. You will not be...

I don’t know where to begin this review. The food? It’s of the absolute highest order. The brisket is a thick sliced, exquisitely barked, cut it with your fork, edible treasure box. The specials create a sort of delicious paradox (looking at you Bird’s Nest Sandwich) due to their limited time on the menu, but the unlimited amount of times you want to eat them. A sunset in your mouth, destined to disappear, but leaving behind a promise of tomorrow. The set up? A food truck. But with corn hole and a ping pong table out back, next to shaded picnic tables to eat and hang out at. Recently a roof was added to stand under while you order, flowers to smell and the best music playing. Which brings me to what, or should I say who I really want to talk about. Go meet Brad. He’s the owner sure, a visionary chef definitely, the prescient architect behind this whole thing. But over the months of eating his mind altering, mouth watering food, I’ve also had the distinct pleasure of talking to him, and he is so much more. Family man, generous, hard working, creative and caring, the best kind of guy. Support this business, support Brad. You might go there to satisfy your hunger but you’ll leave with a...

Absolutely perfect. I had the special, a lamb sandwich with bacon jam, tomato, and a cucumber yogurt sauce. It was the juiciest most succulent lamb, perfectly accented with the sauces. A had about 2 tablespoons of drippings on my plate by the time I was done.

The owner is CIA trained (the culinary school, not the intelligence branch!). That background shows. Everything I've had was perfectly executed. 100% I will be going back and bringing friends!

*Update" went back and had the chopped brisket mac and cheese. I've had this dish from other places, but I was completely unprepared for what this dish was here... have you seen the show "The best thing I ever ate"? If so, thats how it felt. It wasn't just good. It redefined my understanding of what chopped brisket mac and cheese can be.

If you haven't eaten here yet, you have unequivocally been missing out on what Is the best bbq place I have ever been to, and I've been to all the greats in most of Texas. It is truly...

I’d heard whispers about Jim's from Interstellar BBQ regulars, but despite being just 15 minutes away, I'd never ventured there. What a mistake that was! This unassuming food truck is serving up some seriously good barbecue. The stars of the show are undoubtedly the turkey and ribs - both absolute perfection, earning a solid 10/10. The meat is tender, flavorful, and cooked to smoky excellence. Don't miss the scalloped potatoes either; they're a standout side that also deserves top marks. While the mac and cheese is good (8/10), it doesn't quite reach the lofty heights of the other offerings. The only real disappointment was the brisket, which fell short of expectations at around 6/10. Despite the brisket hiccup, Jim's Smokehouse BBQ is a must-visit for any local barbecue enthusiast. The turkey alone is worth the trip, and I'm already planning my next visit. This little food truck proves that sometimes the best flavors come from unexpected places.

It’s always amazing when you can stop by a random food truck off the side of the road in TX and find better BBQ than most states most popular establishments This makes the above statement true, and was one of the better BBQ sandwiches I ever had. When I first received I thought it was a bit unimpressive, but changed as soon as my first bite! It was a lot more meat than it looked, bun was amazing, and it was actually Hot. I can’t tell you how many BBQ places I’ve been lately that serve almost cold meat.. terrible $16 is somewhat typical nowadays, but would still hope to be a bit cheaper, or at least come with a small side. At least it was delicious. This will be an ‘every once in a while place’ bc of price point. If it was a few cheaper, or came with side, would prob come here every time I was in area Never change that perfect grilled buttery bun Parking was a bit tight Friday early-evening Thanks!

Wow I am finally, not let down! Being a foodie internationally for a decade, I was long anticipating famous Texan BBQ to impress me like Jim's. I think Saltlick was great, Rudy's was good and breakfast taco grills are fun but I haven't had one that made me go wow. Who knew this food truck in the middle of nowhere has redefined how I view BBQ. We had both sandwiches and yes $10 each is not cheap, BUT IT IS REALLY WORTH IT. if you buy fancy meet like Wagyu beef at a BBQ place in LA or Toronto it'll cost you $50+ for a sandwich. This, although not Wagyu, gave me the experience of AAAAA grade meat. I strongly recommend this delicious, great value and down to earth bbq joint. (Sorry I was like halfway in then remembered to take a pic. Because it was so good I could not stop after one bite.)
