Night Owl — Restaurant in Austin

Saturday night my fiancé and I walk in and in total about 13 people. Seems like our type of place. It’s clean, cocktail menu, not too loud, and bartender just chatting with a guy at the bar. Bartender makes eye contact with me as we walk up to the bar and turns back to her conversation. A few minutes pass I hand my fiancé my wallet and tell her I need to use the restroom to get me something off the cocktail list. I like to try new things and she usually takes a taste test. I wait in line and then use the restroom. When I come back I asked if the bartender help her yet. She then tells me the bartender asked how she was doing. Which she responded with I’m good and looks up because she was going to ask a question about a drink on the menu; to see the bartender already talking with that guy again. Night owl it’s truly a neighborhood bar. I would say night owl is kind of a dive bar, so if you’re looking for an upscale, trendy bar, where you dress up, this is not for you. This bar has some video games, a pool table and some chairs and tables to sit in around the bar. The bar is pretty much the center point and has chairs around it. When we went, it was predominantly male, although there were a few women there. This is a good place for people to hang out and you don’t have to dress up to go here. It’s super casual. So casual in fact, some people brought in their own food. Night Owl doesn’t have a bunch of bells and whistles, but for those looking for some cheap drinks, this is the place. Great neighborhood bar with a pool table. The drinks are cheap for Austin and the bartender and patrons were all very friendly to a stranger like myself who popped in on a Sunday afternoon. The pizza truck out front was great, and the NightOwl allows you to eat it inside while you knock back a cold drink--full service bar, too. Best of all dogs are allowed inside on a hot summer day which pretty much makes this place a new favorite when I'm out with my Aussies and need a cool respite from Austin's continuous 100s summers.
