I ordered four things from this place last night. Lamb gyro, chicken lemon soup, side hummus, and baked feta cheese. I was excited about the food because this is very close to where I live and have raving reviews online. They forgot one of the things I ordered - the side hummus, but had included a complimentary dessert, and tbh I am not mad about that or anything at all. It is my fault perhaps that I didn't check when I picked up!

Anyway moving to the food, everything was too salty and not very authentic greek, wasn't very fresh either.

The lamb gyro was decent, the bread on the gyro and the side pita bread were quite good. But the meat and the fillings inside was too salty and greasy, the sauce reminded me of the what we get at Halal Bros, if you enjoy that sauce you will like this, but without the rice (like with Halal bros) that sauce taste felt too much. The lamb was alright, but didn't feel as fresh over all. The side salad with this gyro was solid though!

The baked feta was a disappointment! It was tooo salty, very dry, didn't have enough herb/spices or tomatoes to go with it.

The lemon chicken soup was the worst of it, i couldn't really even eat 1/4th of it because of all the damn SALT again, and there were barely any chicken?? It sounds to me like that they just add as much SALT as possible in everything to make it "tasty" for the diners.

I am surprised people who mentioned these dishes in the reviews here, raved about it!! I contemplated between a two or one star, went with a one because I think this place is wayyy over rated based on reviews.

The complimentary desert was sub par as well, it tasted like dense lentil balls that we have in Indian food without much sweetness, but I haven't tasted this particular dish as much so I may be...

Absolutely awful, do not spend your time or money here. When i asked for a glass of water the lady slammed a glass in front of me and said nothing. I stared at her blankly (and slightly irritated) and asked where do I get water? She said “there.” and blankly pointed to the soft drink dispenser. Already displeased, I got my water and sat down after ordering pizza and mozzarella sticks. When the waitress came to deliver the food she said nothing, didn’t tell me her name, and (also) slammed the food on the table. The mozzarella sticks were your typical microwavable snack and the (MARGHERITA) pizza was a cheese pizza with sliced tomatoes on top. As well as being VERY poorly cut and completely lopsided. No one came to check on us or take our plates. Then, horrifically, we were handed “beignets on the house.” What i had received was EXPIRED pizza dough with cinnamon and syrup on top. When I took a bite, it was SOUR and HARD. I got up from my chair and informed my waitress as well as handing back the food. No apologies, no refund, no replacement. Nothing. I will NEVER be coming back here and advise anyone curious to save themselves the trouble and to not risk...

I recently dined at Santorini Cafe, and my experience left much to be desired. The restaurant's cleanliness was subpar, with sticky tables and food remnants on the floor.

As for the food, it was a letdown. The only dish that somewhat met expectations was the salad, with a rating of 5.5/10. The hummus, on the other hand, was a disappointment, scoring only 3/10 and tasting like it came from a can.

While the saganaki had an impressive presentation with flames, it ended up being charred and had an unpleasant alcohol aftertaste. The moussaka was even worse, and a staff member openly admitted that it didn't look good when taken out of the freezer, making me wonder why it was served at all.

The chicken plate was equally disappointing, as the chicken seemed to have been cooked days ago and then reheated.

Overall, Santorini Cafe did not live up to its promise of authentic Greek cuisine. Despite friendly staff, the dining experience left much to be desired. I feel compelled to share this review to help others manage their expectations, especially if they are seeking fresh Greek food. Unfortunately, my visit left me feeling...

My Favorite Greek Restaurant in Austin, Hands Down

Our first time eating here, conveniently close to tech ridge! Diamond in the rough. House turned into a Greek restaurant, sweet lady rang us up (rumor is she's the owner). I got the lamb plate and my husband got the lamb salad. We got 2 happy hour sangrias but the wine glasses were big! No syrup taste which was perfect for my taste, I don't like mine too sweet. Simple menu which we like. Came with a complimentary side of beignets!! Next time we will try the baklava. Everything was so tasty I have zero qualms. We plan on being regulars 100%. Atmosphere is relaxed with an outdoor covered patio, picnic tables scattered throughout the side and back of the house. Kid friendly space with things to keep them entertained. I saw a ping pong table too so I'm not sure if they were lending out the items for play though. Perfect secret little spot, will be sad when people start swarming here! However they deserve the business. Be prepared for actual good service!

Quaint mom n pop kind of restaurant with plenty of outdoor patio seating with a cozy interior that has some charm to it. I ended up getting a reservation since I wasn’t sure how busy it was going to be, but turns out it was an order at the counter and sit wherever kind of restaurant. Granted, we went for a late lunch, so the restaurant was pretty quiet. The menu had some nice variety without being excessive, so I usually take that as a good sign. I ordered the baba ganoush with pita since I wasn’t too hungry, and it was a nice portion. The eggplant wasn’t super flavorful, but of course that’s up to preference. I liked how buttery and toasted the pita was. The fries were done well— very crispy and uniform. (I wish I had a picture, they were very pretty). Cute laid back spot overall, and I’d love to come back and try more things on the menu to give the place another chance.
