What a difference a year makes. They must have gotten new managers because this place is completely different than when I originally posted this over a year ago. I now spend a good amount of time here every weekday morning. This place is super busy with a lot of WFH people like me, that just need a change of scenery from their home offices, students, and travelling workers plus the regular patrons in for their shot of caffeine. The staff always greets you when you come in and are soo soo friendly regardless of how slammed they are with work.
There is plenty of seating for individuals (it's almost like it was set up just for people to come in with a laptop and do some work) and seating arrangements for groups. There's also a lovely outdoor patio area that is shaded by trees and a few umbrellas. I'm so glad I decided to give this store a second chance. It's now one of my favorite locations (and having travelled the US, I've worked at a lot of Starbucks).
Old review from 2022: Avoid this Starbucks unless you want to be condescended to and overcharged. I always get a decaf dopio in a venti cup with extra hot water because they donāt have decaf drip and itās ridiculous to pay an extra dollar for hot water which they give out free anyway.
I asked her to fill my cups and she said, āyeah we donāt do that. Thatās an americano which is a different drink and costs extra.ā I said, well a barista taught me this order and you donāt charge for hot water in a separate cup so why is it different? She then looks at the cup and says again āthatās a different drinkā. Again, itās hot water which is free.
She then looks at another person and says ā should we do it just this one time?ā Like sheās doing me a huge favor. The other girl goes,ā yeah, but just this onceā like i was asking for free food. (I spent $30 on this one order so obviously Iām not begging).
I grabbed my stuff and said, itās hot water. You give it away free. Iām just taking my things and never coming back. Again, a barista taught me this and Iāve never had a Starbucks employee complain about hot water. (Especially in a store...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis store has zero consistency. I was told how to order my morning coffee by a Starbucks employee a while back and have always ordered it this way. I come to this location almost every morning and order this same exact drink. Some days my cup is full like the picture to the right. Other days, itās a quarter to half empty like the one to the left. Each time I bring this up when my cup isnāt full, I get an extremely condescending answer about how I need to pay extra. What do I have to pay extra for? When you order on the app it charges you for the extra heavy whipping cream and if you get any additional shots. So, I legit do not get it. If the point is to overcharge your customers, then donāt allow anyone to order online.
I sometimes want to avoid this issue at all cost so I will drive to a farther location(Northland and Balcones) to have it made correctly. They have never given me a problem with this and always fill the cup.
The night crew at this location is always so kind, helpful, and accommodating. They can surely teach the morning crew a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hadn't reviewed this yet?! That's shocking. This place has been the hub of so many great meetings and so much of my business development in Austin. Coffee spot first... I'm not a fan of the remodel (what it is now) as they've (intentionally) killed off a lot of the seating for Coworking. The outdoor seating is rather well done and all things considered, better marks on this account. Geographically speaking, this coffee spot is rather central for Austin (downtown is not) so this is a venue where many meet and where you'll see many folks you want to get to know pass through. Now, my personal interest... This is one of the ideal venues for starting entrepreneurs, tech professionals, and investors. If you want to work in the startup community in Austin, this is a place you'll want to get to know if you're serious about it. Take your meetings here and cowork once in a while to get familiar with the regulars and make some meetings out of...
