I stumbled upon Tacos Guerrero on June 21, 2025 - not my original brunch plan, but as someone who believes everything happens for a reason, I’m genuinely glad I ended up here. From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by a warm, smiling grandmother running the place all by herself. Her presence is not only touching but also inspiring. Hats off to her dedication and hard work - showing up every day and serving food with such heart is truly admirable.
For just $8, I had two tacos - Chorizo with Egg and Potato with Egg and they were absolutely phenomenal. You might be tempted to judge the quality based on the price or setting at first glance, but trust me, these tacos are made with love and packed with flavor. The salsa? Simply heavenly.
Austin’s iconic "Keep Austin Weird" slogan celebrates the unique and independent spirit of this city - and supporting local gems like Tacos Guerrero is exactly what that spirit is all about. I’m no food critic, but you can trust my word: this spot is worth every visit.
Come on, Austinites - let’s show our support for local businesses and keep the soul of our city...
Read moreI came here because of an Instagram post from TheTacoTourist. Unfortunately my visit did not match his experience. Carnitas were reheated in the flat top so the texture was that of leftovers from the previous day. I’ll take this as a mistake on my part. I am used to eating carnitas from places that treat it as their staple product versus another option on the menu. I ordered tacos assuming that they would come on corn tortillas because corn is king when it comes to authentic tacos. Tacos came on flour so if you like corn make sure to request it. Again I will take this as a mistake on my part. Flour tortilla had a texture that did not agree with my stomach so I didn’t finish my food. Chorizo is very strong so keep that in mind if you are used to mild chorizos brands such as Garcia or San Luis. The highlight of this meal was the Mandarina Jarrito that was ice cold and the texture of the chicharrón. If I were to go back I would try a...
Read moreWow wow wow. This place is truly a gem. I know there are a million taco trucks in Austin, but this one is pretty special.
We stopped in and split a few different tacos: chicharron and egg, al pastor, migas, and chorizo/egg/cactus. The chicharron was really tender and went well with the egg. The pastor was crazy good. It was shredded and had a lovely marinade and pineapple flavor. The chorizo was fantastic because it wasn't super greasy. Finally, the migas was super good and came with their homemade refried beans. I'm pretty sure the tortillas were homemade or at least tasted like they were. Their three salsas were really great too.
The older lady working the truck is so sweet. She gave us great service and cooked up ridiculously good food. It's like someone's little abuelita made us our meal. :)
We will 100% be returning for more.
BIG NOTE: The truck...
