I visited for the first time on June 21, 2022, and I will definitely be going back! Let me preface this review by saying that I'm a Le Cordon Bleu chef with a special interest in baking, so, for what it's worth, I know my bread. There was a huge selection of fresh, beautiful, individually wrapped buns, pastries, and breads, sweet and savory. Everything I got was absolutely delicious - a cream filled bread sprinkled with fresh coconut shreds, a custard bun, and something resembling a kolache- a bun with a hot dog inside. The latter sounds very plain, but it was delicious!! The hot dog was good, but the bread on the outside was a delicious, fresh, sweet brioche-style egg bread. It was simply exquisite!! If they have loaves of brioche, I am in trouble. To top it all off, the cashier was a wonderfully sweet lady who smiled and recognized that it was my first time there. This mom and pop bakery focuses on quality baked goods. They have no time to label each of the carefully packaged pieces, which just tells me that good baking is their foremost priority and not marketing. We are becoming regular customers, coming after our biweekly visits to MT Market for special ingredients. Yesterday our family ate all the goodies so quickly that we forgot to take pictures for sharing. Alice, one of the women there has a strong yet charming personality, encouraging us to try new things. We love her. Discover your favorites at this unique family-owned bakery that deserves success...
Read moreI love going to Texas Bakery whenever I get my grocery shopping done! Their onion/pork floss rolls are the best. I usually try whatever they have at the register/table in the middle of the store and it's never been a miss. I tried their red bean sesame balls recently and they were amazing! I normally don't like them for being too sweet/greasy, but these were not too sweet and large enough to balance out the grease (they're tennis ball sized for reference).
Onto the birthday cake. I thought they had more options on the door at one point but maybe they downsized recently. It's a simple cake without frills but I thought it was reasonably priced for 8 inches. It's a little short at first glance but seeing it packed with fresh strawberries in the center I didn't really mind it. The best part for my boyfriend and me is that both cake and cream were lightly sweetened and is complemented by the fresh tartness of the strawberries. Goes great...
