TLDR: If you are not a fan of sake, this place will not change your mind. If you are not a fan of paying high dollar prices for less than mediocre food, don't order from Inari food truck.
I typically only write positive reviews, but my experience at Texas Sake Company was so disappointing that I felt I needed to share my experience. The only reason this is a 2 star review and not a 1 star review is because I have to admit that I am not an avid sake drinker. That said, I tried 4 different sakes and 3 of their "sparkling" sakes, and only one of the sakes was drinkable. In my opinion, all of the "sparkling" sakes tasted like medicine or yoghurt.
Had this been the totality of my experience, I would not have written this review but would have simply chalked it up to this not being my thing.
However, the pinnacle of my disappointment came from the Inari food truck that was at their taproom. This overpriced and uninspired food cost twice as much as the two sake flights I ordered and was just as...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to dining here, as it was our first time visiting. Upon arrival, we approached the bar to ask how the ordering process worked. Unfortunately, the man behind the bar (wearing glasses) was unnecessarily rude and condescending.
He looked my husband up and down and asked sarcastically, “Did you see the little QR code?” — as if we were being foolish for asking a simple question. My husband had the sake menu in his hand and politely explained that it was all he had picked up. Still, the bartender continued to speak to us in a dismissive, patronizing tone.
If the process is self-service or QR-based, that’s totally fine — but a proper response would’ve been something like: “Welcome! Yes, we do serve food — here’s the menu, and you can access it through this QR code.” There was absolutely no need for the attitude.
This kind of treatment is unacceptable in hospitality. He should not be in a customer-facing role if he can’t treat guests with basic...
Read moreI've had plenty of saké, but none quite like this! They brew their own saké, in house, to perfection, as well as import some really fine saké. Tried their saké bomb which was a shot of their own saké dropped into a rice lager that they make (which is also incredible). Also tried two unique drinks that I doubt you could find anywhere else: a dairy free saké based eggnog and a rice beer Oktoberfest style. If you make it in time for these seasonal drinks, they are well worth the money! Cute space, welcoming staff. Big shout out to Pete for being a very informative, helpful, and kind bartender! He really made the whole...
