This Aloft (south) location is next to the highway. It was recommended by a Marriott reservation phone agent. We didn’t know there were so many other Aloft locations to choose from in Austin. |Even though our room was in the front of the building facing the highway we didn’t hear any of the road noise. We did notice the panhandlers, homeless and the abandoned graffiti covered building next door with the busted out windows with a chain link fence erected around it. ||Upon entering the hotel (on a Saturday, during the daytime) we had to be buzzed in. All quests had to use their room card keys to enter the building. After dropping our luggage in the room we left to go sightseeing. Upon our return that night around 9pm we noticed several police squad cars and a security guards car all with flashing lights activated in front of the hotel. Not sure what that was about. We didn’t have any security issues while we were there. Parking at this location was free. ||The Front desk Staff member (an African American Woman) was very courteous, convivial yet professional and efficient. We really enjoyed our interactions with her. ||In the room, the mirrors all had fingerprints (even when on day two me moved to a new room there were prints as well) the AC didn’t work well in the first room so by the next morning the floors were slippery from the humidity in the room. ||The refrigerator didn’t work properly either. It wasn’t very cold. We didn’t trust leaving any food in there. ||The water pressure in the shower was acceptable but the handle needed replacing as it kept turning beyond the point where it should’ve stopped. ||We reported all of the needed repairs to front desk staff who then put us in a second room that corrected all of the issues except the fingerprints on the big mirror in the bedroom. ||The Owner of this location needs to invest money in this property for repairs and replacements. The rug, the chair and the ottoman were all filthy and most definitely in need of cleaning or replacing in our room. Even in the lobby by the front desk the white sectional had a large noticeable stain on it. |This stay was not a good value in our opinion. This was our first stay at an Aloft hotel and we were not impressed with...

I am beyond furious with my recent stay at Marriott Aloft Austin, TX. This hotel is an absolute joke, and I will never stay here again, nor will I recommend it to anyone—unless they want to experience the worst customer service and the most incompetent management imaginable.
Let me start by saying there was no hot water during my entire stay. That’s right—no hot water. A basic necessity that every hotel should provide. When I approached the front desk, the manager’s response was both arrogant and completely unacceptable. He had the audacity to tell me it was a "design issue" and that the hotel had been overbooked. Apparently, the entire lacrosse team decided to take showers at the same time, and that somehow justified the hotel’s total failure to provide hot water to any of its guests. Unbelievable.
The manager offered me a measly 10,000 points as compensation, which is laughable. That wouldn’t even cover the cost of one night, let alone the inconvenience and frustration of not having hot water. I filed a formal complaint with Marriott, and instead of handling the issue professionally, Aloft Austin closed my claim without any notification. When I called corporate, I was told the claim was closed simply because I refused their pathetic points offer. What a way to treat a customer.
Let me be clear: I will never step foot in this hotel again. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, and I’m warning everyone I know to stay far away. If you like hot showers, decent customer service, and actually getting what you paid for, don’t waste your time here. You’ll end up taking cold showers, freezing in the cold, and getting sick like I did, all while dealing with a hotel that couldn’t care less about your experience.
This was an infuriating experience, and I expect better from a brand like Marriott. You’ve lost my business...
Read moreOverall a clean location but not up to what I expect from an Aloft or Marriott hotel or a hotel of it's age. Seems like a lot of corners were cut building this hotel and management isn't maintaining it.
Most annoying was the lack of hot water, which from reading other reviews is a known issue they haven't fixed. Stone cold in the morning. For a modern hotel built next to a major freeway interchange the sound proofing is insufficient. More than noticeable levels of traffic noise all hours of the day, including trucks passing by all night.
The whole hotel seems pretty distressed and shows a lack of maintenance. Drywall corners are dented, big gashes in the walls behind furniture, glass panels in the elevator shattered. Fitness center was missing functional pieces to the equipment.
Staff was friendly but the front desk has a light LED grid behind it that makes it impossible to talk with them without feeling like your eyes are being burned.
The layout is the standard Aloft room but I've never been in one so dysfunctional. There is no light in the same room as the toilet and they painted it black. Outlets in random places all over the room, except by the bed.
The area is not great either. Hotel has the front door locked down to card access all day. Saw a staff member and someone else yelling at each other in the parting lot. Random people wandering all around the parking lot.
Only thing I was impressed with is that bed was very...
