I understand the airport food mentality and that yeah itās food on the go blahx3 but I be damn! Can there be just a teeny tiny bit of pride and care for what you do if you āworkā in a customer service environment? If you donāt want to be there, stay at home. Austin airport is the location, Terminal B. I had never frequented the franchise and passing through decided to grab a sandwich for me and my wife. Nobody in line, so I thought this would be a nice place to go. WRONG! This should have been the first indication to keep walking. 1st the dude behind the counter the taking order may have been a mime because I had to literally stand there and read his lips to know if he said something. After the 1st sandwich his cohort stepped in looked at him like What the Hell dude and finished taking the orders. As we move down the assembly line of sandwich making I noticed his teammate was cleaning off the condiment containers which theoretically isnāt a bad thing in a food establishment. She had on gloves, using a towel. šš¾ the downside is when the samdwich got to her, she just dropped the cleaning rag picked up the sandwiches and added the remainder of the toppings. 𤯠Yes! That is correct. Dropped the cleaning rag along with whatever chemicals it had in it and went to grab the last toppings, cut the sandwich then wrap and pass to the cashier. Did you see how contaminated she just made the food prep area? I think a customer service training class and Serve Safe course would be beneficial to the crew. The cashier is what earned them a star, he seemed to be completing multiple tasks and came from stocking shelves to cash us out. He was polite, vocalized the price and informed us of the extras that were included with the price and where they were located. We politely grabbed our food without a scene boarded the plane trashing those sandwiches in route in sheer disbelief of what had just happened. SMH Itās better to laugh than cry about it....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis ThunderCloud location doesn't live up to the overall ThunderCloud business. My two stars only reflects this location. That being said ... I was super excited to see ThunderCloud open in the airport only to end up being disappointed time after time. I almost always order the Nada Chicken Sandwich (Just thinking about a good one makes my mouth water) but out of the dozen or so times I have ordered at this location only a few of the sandwiches have been good. Other times they were dry (one time it was literally just lettuce, cheese and the nada patties. I always order the works. So dry ... yuck). The last 4 times I have tried to order a Nada I have been told, respectively: "out of patties," "out of patties," "oven broken," and "that sandwich has been discontinued." That last one really got me. I said, "it still shows on your menu board." They insisted it was discontinued. I suspect that they actually just don't like making the Nada Chicken Sandwiches because the patties take a long time. Every other time I have ordered one outside of the first two times they have always said "the patties take 7 minutes" or some time like that (it may be 6 minutes ... I don't recall exactly.) ThunderCloud, please get this location right. A good Nada Chicken before or on my flight is just...

I was craving a sandwich and came across Thundercloud Subs at the Austin airport so we decided to try it. We ordered the Austin Club sub ($15.50), which comes with a bag of chips of your choice and a drink. We chose Garden Salsa Sun Chips and added a Love Street Blonde beer for an extra $3, though we were required to open the beer in front of the cashier, which was a bit odd. We also asked for gloves and had our sandwich cut in half, which made eating and cleanup much easier.
For the Austin Club sub, we opted for white bread and added ham. However, when we opened it, we noticed several issues: the bread wasn't toasted, the meat portions were skimpy, and the chicken looked more like white ham. The sandwich was smaller than expected and very basic--something I could have grabbed pre-made elsewhere. Although it didn't taste bad, for same price point, I could get a better tasting & customizable foot long...
