First, you have no idea what it meant to us to allow us to have our two small dogs in their stroller to sit on the awesome covered, shaded, cool patio for our meal. Next, TWO staff members went out of their way to ensure that we as vegetarians AND our first Torchy's experience since we first visited the original food truck back in 2016, felt included and valued as customers. Hannah, who ended up taking my order, spent so much time with me ensuring my picky family members had exactly what they would enjoy and allowed me to get small 2 oz cups for them to be able to just taste test the various sides and sauces I ordered. She shared what she felt we would enjoy and what maybe we should pass on given our lack of ability to handle the heat! She was beyond helpful, and made the slightly overwhelming experience, so pleasant!
Ok now on to the food.
The chips and queso were absolutely phenomenal. My usually picky father, asked me to refill his 2 oz cup four times! I tried a tiny taste of the diablo sauce that Hannah had given me on the side, and thank gosh I did, because it was WAY too hot and would have ruined the queso for my entire family. The rest of us could not stop eating it either! Amazing! Kudos Chef!
Next, my father got a real beef fajita and ate it up entirely.
My mother got a potato egg and cheese but wanted to try the fried avocado so she got that added to the taco. It fell out immediately of course because of how packed it was, but she ate it and enjoyed it all.
My wife who has only been a vegetarian for a year and a half ordered the grande burrito with the cowboy style Beyond Beef. She agreed that the seared tips would have been better, but she did enjoy it!
And lastly, I decided to get the Trailer Park taco sub fried avocado. I must say, after having the taco of my life back in 2016, I was expecting so much more, but it was totally lacking in flavor and the fried avocado just tasted like slightly crunchy mush. But that's ok, because the street corn I got for us made up for it and I could have made a meal of the queso, chips and street corn. In fact, with our leftover street corn, I mixed it at home with some store bought queso and dipped it in chips and it was perfection!
Anyway, way to go! Even though my taco was less than outstanding, our overall experience was just wonderful! Keep doing what you're doing, but do please consider bringing in maybe one other meat alternative. Thank...
Read moreWhile I’ve always appreciated the quality of the food at this location, my recent experience with the front counter staff was disappointing enough that I feel compelled to share.
Upon entering, the employee taking orders greeted us with silence and a visibly annoyed expression. After standing in awkward silence for over ten seconds, I placed a simple order for a burrito bowl—without rice or beans. This seemed to visibly irritate her, as she rolled her eyes, raised her eyebrows, and slowly input the order without confirming or acknowledging it. Instead of offering a verbal confirmation or asking if we needed anything else, she made a hand gesture and continued to stare at my wife and me in silence, creating an unnecessarily uncomfortable interaction.
The only words spoken came after I completed payment on the screen—“I’ll get your chips and queso.” At that point, I genuinely wasn’t sure if she was simply having a bad day or if interacting with customers is not something she’s comfortable doing. When I thanked her for handing over the food, she again chose not to respond.
Fortunately, the person who brought our food to the table was polite and welcoming, and the food itself was up to the usual standard. That’s the only reason this review has any stars at all.
I sincerely hope management considers providing additional customer service training to front-line staff or reevaluates role placements to ensure that individuals who interact directly with customers are prepared and suited for those responsibilities. Respectful, basic communication goes a long way in shaping a guest’s experience—and unfortunately, this visit...
Read moreThe cashier taking the drive thru orders tonight was extremely rude. Starting with getting frustrated when she couldn’t understand me through the drive thru speaker. Blatantly ignored me when I got to the window. Put my card under the receipt I was supposed to sign and give back, which I did not see. She was then rude when I told her I didn’t get my card back, by rolling her eyes in response and lifting my receipt to show me, as if I was supposed to know that (even after I tipped her!!!)? Then shutting the window and mocking me by telling her coworker I didn’t see my card.
Heard you hun. That window isn’t noise proof. Maybe start putting the card on top of the receipt, so your customers who don’t have X-ray vision and assume what they’re writing on is a promo card, can see that it’s their credit card. Not only that, but you’ll be able to see it to when they hand it back, since you clearly didn’t know it was there either while you were busy ignoring me, again. Card on top of the receipts! Magic! But first, you should take some lessons in not disrespecting your customers from start to finish. Especially the ones who have literally done nothing to you.
This is my first time at this location, and I wont be coming back. I have worked in the service industry for over a decade, and I would never keep this employee on. I understand people have bad days, but get a grip and smile. I cannot stand when people are rude for absolutely no reason. You work in the service industry where you service people. No body who disrespects customers from start to finish should be in the front of the...
