Had an absolutely terrible experience at Reunion Ktchn last weekend. Our party of four was seated relatively quickly, but I was strangely still asked for my name and phone number before they would bring us to our table.
The experience started out alright- our server, Cesar, greeted us, brought over water, and took drink orders. We were informed as we were looking over the menu that if we wanted to order from the Miami Spice menu, everyone at our table must order from that menu. Not a big deal as we were all interested in it, but still a strange requirement since it seemed like most of the items were also on the regular menu.
We placed our orders and quickly received the first appetizer that a few people at the table ordered, the croquettes. They were very delicious. A bit after that, most of the rest of our food arrived- the Saganaki cheese and the Salmon Benedict (ordered by 3 of the 4 people in our party). Except the salmon was nowhere to be found-someone in the kitchen had substituted avocado instead without warning. It took us several minutes to flag down a server and try to find out what had happened. Cesar came back over and mentioned that they were out of the salmon and quickly disappeared to "find a solution." Quite a bit of time (20+ minutes) passed before we heard from or saw Cesar again and one person in our party was still missing their food. Eventually, we asked a busser to send over their manager, which never happened. We had to flag down a woman in a suit jacket that looked like she might be the manager to try to find out what was happening. The manager was polite, but just offered a vague "we'll find a solution" and quickly went to deal with something else. Finally, a few minutes after this, the pancakes the person in our group ordered finally arrived.
Another 10 minutes or so passed, and our server finally came by and said he had great news-that the kitchen was going to make it right and we'd start the experience over. They ended up bringing out almost our entire order again, even though we'd specifically said we just wanted to wrap up the meal and leave. The food that was brought out was clearly rushed- some of the poached eggs were overcooked/undercooked and other items just didn't appear to the quality of what we'd received before that.
We finally were able to flag down Cesar again, tell him to pack our desserts to go, and bring the check. This process took another 10-15 minutes, and we're bordering on being at the table for 2 hours now.
Overall, the food was pretty good, but the service was absolutely terrible. Both our server and the manager seemed to care very little about our actual experience and more about whatever else was happening in the restaurant. I would strongly recommend staying away from this restaurant unless you want to spend your time chasing down servers and risking that menu items might be changed...
Read moreIncredible.... Food, stellar, duck croquettes, pan seared salmon with fire corn sauce, Mediterranean chicken n cous cous, chicken flavorful, tender, and unique use of boneless thighs. Salmon just a hair overdone(for a chef) due to carryover cooking nothing worth complaining or lessening rating over, still perfection, well seasoned to my surprise and unique as well, croquettes of smoked duck well balanced with sweet fig jam and peppery arugula to cut richness, delicious. Im a professional chef myself, excellent work.
Drinks were phenominal and uniqe, well balanced, had brasil something and miami something house cocktails, really really good. Garnish was visually appealing as well as relevant to flavors profiled in drinks, very important detail to me.
Service was top notch, host made immediate eye contact, had reservation which allowed a choice of inside or outside seating, but humidity was low and temp was good so i opted to eat outside where less people were sitting. Our waitress, a shorter blonde woman, donnella? Dam, im sorry that forgot her name, started with a D, she wore glasses and was so detailed, friendly, engaging, attentive, un rushing, congenial, and knowledgeable of the menu, she is an asset to the restaurant. Timing was good of drink app and course delivery. Ambiance was perfectly lit inside, clean dinning room, un cluttered, nice art on walls, stylish chairs and tables, bar very chique, open line kitchen all kitchen staff looked and moved professionally, the food also reflected that. Outside plants give a feel of separation from rest of shopping plaza, very nice outside furniture and ambiance as well.
Only critique i have is that i saw a waiter leaving the rest room as i entered still wearing his apron, im a professional chef in fine dinning, that is a NO-NO in the industry. Aprons and hats off before entering restrooms. Outside of that no complaints worthy of lessening their 5 star rating.
I highly recommend this establishment, I will return to spend money and bring other guest, definitely a good place that says "miami" with over all experience. Great place glad a co worker told me of it. Great staff, great food, great ambience and good location, dont want it to be downtown or on the beach. I hope the owner gives a bonus to deserving staff 1x or 2x a yr when profits are good as most staff appears to be great(not just good) at their job, even the gentlemen that wore his apron in the bathroom was a good waiter...
