Pizza is the foundation of life. And one that lacks the quality of a good pizza is one that should not be considered a pizza at all. Before I ate my first bite of Mike's Pizza I was a little skeptical. I knew prior how difficult it was for small businesses to thrive in the cutthroat town that is Avon. And to add to that, there has not been a delectable pizza establishment in the town in the past decade. The owner was definitely one of the best owners I have ever met. He is kind and considerate to every costumer, which is why I feel comfortable eating at this place. Immediately when I bit into the first slice, I knew I struck a gold mine. My pizza Fridays were once infected with the horrid taste of Vic's pizza, and finally I have something I get to enjoy. The pizza at Mike's is the perfect amount of thickness needed. It is not too thick like most chain pizza joints or too thin like Pete and Elda's which skimp on everything known to a pizza. Although there are many people who prefer the thin slice over the thick, I think the best way to enjoy your pizza is a mixture of both. It is good to have the right amount of pizza in your mouth without too much to the point where you will choke or too little to where it feels as if your are eating 90% air per bite. Not only they provide wonderful pizza; they also have many sandwiches. This is hard to come by now-a-days because usually pizza places will have either good pizza and bad sandwiches or vice versa. Seeing both have their wonderful taste brings the feeling of ecstasy in my mouth and is why I now order a box of pizza with a sandwich. If you are considering changing your pizza preference, I say go ahead! This place has everything your average pizza enthusiast would want offered and is why I give their pizzas a 10/10. Thank you mike for the great service, and I look forward to eating more and more of your delicious...
Read moreTypically, I am not one to leave reviews, but today was quite the experience. My friend and I ordered subs to go, while my other two friends ordered from Seed to Sprout from down the street. They waited patiently outside on the empty pizzeria chairs (Michaels only had one other customer besides us - VERY EMPTY) for me to get my sub. While waiting for my food, i can only assume the manager of some sort, (i feel bad for the other workers if so) went outside and harassed my friends for sitting on the chairs. Even though they were met with immediate and unnecessary aggression, they got up and went to sit on the benches right outside. But that wasn’t good enough, as apparently Michaels pizzeria owns the benches screwed into the sidewalks by the town! Once we got the food, I asked if we were able to sit as a foursome on the pizzeria chairs, as we were paying customers. What a mistake that was for asking… Michaels reiterated again that they were not welcome because they purchased from another place in Avon. Now i would understand this if the place was crowded. But it was a ghost town on a spring Saturday afternoon. As an Italian-American myself, I was shocked to be met with such aggression. The lack of support for other local businesses in town was also shocking! Even after moving to the benches, he went on for minutes, calling us disrespectful and asked us to never come back (that won’t be a...
Read moreGreat new pizza place in the area. Has the best bread/crust out of anywhere you can go. Great pizza by the slice, HUGE slices. Garlic knots on point, Mac and cheese balls come with sour cream as a side, which was too rich of a combo for me personally, but great on their own. Buffalo chicken pizza comes with either ranch or blue cheese on it, so be sure to specify if you want one or the other or none! One of the better pizza places to open around the area in a LONG LONG Time . Way better than anywhere in Bradley Beach, Neptune, or Belmar/LakeComo. I put it up there with Federico's in belmar and Tallulah's in...
