My friends and family came down for a week vacation and were very excited for crab/seafood night. We order 2 full orders of blue crabs and 4 full orders of shrimps on Monday and got home to realize that they had forgot to add to our order the sausage we requested or the cocktail sauce and crab seasoning we requested both on the phone while ordering and then again in person while picking up. We had to run back out to the grocery store for basic sauce and seasoning. The shrimp were rubbery and and the crabs were either overcooked or bad with the crab meat near liquid. We called and spoke with a very polite manager about the experience and she was wonderfully apologetic and took our name saying that the resturaunt would be thrilled to redo our order. We spent and hour trying to contact them by phone the following Wednesday (6/17) and couldn't get our call answered so we figured despite the long drive we would show up and try to get our redo order. We spoke with a brunette female bartender who was HORRIBLY rude to us and told us there was zero chance they would redo our order because that was an absurd request (manager Robin's idea, not ours), we should have called (we tried to), they didnt have any crabs left (a seafood resturaunt) and nearly made my sister cry she made her feel so stupid for asking. She acted like we were trying to scam the place when in reality were a house of service industry workers from Maryland who know good seafood and how to be respectful customers and were simply trying to get a reorder we had been offered! Ive tried to call the place the entire time I've been writing this to get the bartenders name and no one answers the phone! I have never written a bad review and make a point to write good ones but this was the single worst resturaunt customer service experience I have had....
Read moreAbsolutely Atrocious Experience at Dirty Dick's Crab House My recent visit to Dirty Dick's Crab House in Avon, NC, was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had from start to finish. If I could give zero stars, I would. Our waitress was completely discombobulated from the moment we sat down. It was baffling; she couldn't even manage to take everyone's drink order at the same time. But that was just the beginning of the cascade of errors. I ordered New England Clam Chowder, specifically asking to confirm they had it. She assured me they did, only to bring out a bowl of Hatteras clam chowder – a completely different soup that I would not have ordered. This wasn't a simple mistake; it felt like a deliberate deception. The culinary blunders continued with a messed-up burger order for another person at our table. As if that wasn't enough, she forgot to bring two alcoholic drinks we ordered. We had to remind her, and even then, it felt like an afterthought. Then, after the disastrous soup, I ordered crab legs as a replacement, and you guessed it – she completely forgot that order too. We never got a single refill on our drinks throughout the entire meal, leaving us parched and frustrated. The grand finale of this comedy of errors was when she brought us the wrong ticket to bill out. It was a fitting end to a truly frustrating and incompetent display of service. Save yourself the headache and your money. Do NOT dine at Dirty Dick's Crab House. The service is nonexistent, the orders are consistently wrong, and the staff seems utterly incapable of managing even the most basic tasks. You'd be better off eating...

This evening my family and I arrived at your restaurant at 6:50. We walked in and politely waited as the hostess was on the phone. While waiting we grabbed menus as we have heard amazing reviews from our family & friends about the quality of customer service as well as the food. The hostess hung up the phone, my husband asked “is this the front door?” as we had been standing there for awhile without any greeting. As she walked out the door and another gentleman and his party entered the restaurant, through the same doors, the hostess grabbed menus and stated “your table is ready!”
Upon her return, I was quite perplexed, but my family & I waited patiently to be greeted to no avail. I looked at my husband to ask if the hostess had greeted him, he responded no. I walked over to the hostess to ask if we needed to call in to book a reservations. She stated “no!”
Then my husband asked if we could be seated.
“She then asked how many were in our party?”
I’ve never felt so unseen. We frequent Hatteras as we own a time share and visit frequently to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We were looking forward to adding an amazing review and telling our friends we shared the same amazing experience. Unfortunately, I was left feeling baffled! Avon, NC
Update: While the customer service wasn’t welcoming, the positive out of this unpleasant experience was we had the opportunity to go to a locally owned and operated restaurant called COCKEYED CLAM. The food & staff were absolutely amazing! And only seven minutes down the road. Always find...
