Certainly less than impressed.
One 🌟 ding for pricing vs quality. The pizza wasnt bad, but for $15 a pizza one would expect it to taste better than a chain restaurant. Super greasy, mediocre crust, and a sauce that is no better than Kroger marinara.
One 🌟 ding for poor customer service. If you read through enough of the posts you'll see several mentions of a grumpy lady behind the counter. At first I thought that these were exaggerations due to a bad experience, but no, she really is curt and abrasive. Certainly not the type of attitude I would expect from a family owned business who should again strive for a better than chain level of service.
One 🌟 ding for sketchy business practices. First when we were placing our order over the phone they were more than articulate when answering our questions until it came down to the price. They kept mumbling over the price so we had no idea what to expect when we arrived to pickup our pizzas and wings. When that time did come, they rang us up for $30 and then we were told that the price was incorrect and we needed to write in $9 for a tip. You'll also read in other reviews about how you may receive old pizza that they recycle from customers who didn't pick up. While our pizza was greasy fresh, our wings tasted like jerky left under a heater for a couple hours.
This was our first trip there, and certainly or last. If your feeling adventurous try one of the many other pizza places within 5 miles of this place. Trust me, you'll regret this...
Read moreI can't rate the atmosphere, we ordered takeout. Inside was clean, they were closing up when we left, so we didn't look around or hangout in the lobby. Ordering over the phone was easy, as was picking it up and paying. Service was fine, nothing over the top or extraordinary about it. We all thought pizza was good, I personally loved the dough (medium-thin thickness, crunchy on the bottom, soft in the middle and flaky on top) and sauce to cheese ratio. My husband did find a two inch hair in a slice of his pepperoni pizza. I can't say it came from the restaurant definitively as we were unpacking and cleaning at the house we ate at. (But we weren't doing any of that in the kitchen, and the boxes stayed closed except to grab slices.) Ive worked foh and boh at restaurants so we all know when people take the food home, oftentimes it's hard to tell where the random hairs come from FOR SURE. But it was absolutely not any of our hair lol so I'm not rating the food overall on that. It's also a common complaint so I would never ask for a refund or food remade, hair is everywhere, people! Wings were super small, which in hindsight makes a little sense, because the pizza and wing deal that we ordered was a reasonable price ($45 after tax for an XL pep, an XL cheese and 25 wings) But we were disappointed when we got home. Overall average experience. We don't live anywhere near this location, but our friends said they may order again if they find nothing better...
Read moreNew (and will be returning) customers to the Avondale location. Being from New York, I was in the mood for a more traditional style pie as opposed to the thicker crusted pizzas I get around my neighborhood. My husband and I placed a phone order for what I thought was the Avondale location yesterday evening (5/3/25) but instead, I wound up calling the Surprise location. Totally my mistake but didn't realize it until we arrived at the quoted 15 minute timeframe to pick up our food. Was met by AJ who asked me my information and which location I called. AJ informed me I had mistakenly called the wrong location and instead of shrugging, saying sorry you called the wrong place sending me away and doing nothing about it, he told me 'NO PROBLEM, WE'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU!!! 'I haven't heard those words from a restaurant in my general vicinity in forever. That is how an establishment should operate when you have a customer come in and yes, while the mistake was mine, took the problem on, owned it and helped me out. In less than 10 minutes, my pie and mozzarella sticks were ready to go. When I got home 20 minutes later (yes, I went out of my way to go to a place that far away just for pizza) the food was fresh, crispy and just exactly what I remembered being a kid from NY. I can't wait to try other things on the menu at this place. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if your from AZ or an east coaster looking for a little taste of home. Thank...
