Captain Crawfish Cajun Seafood Bakersfield — Restaurant in Bakersfield

We drive by here on occasion, not too often, because we live on the East end of town. About to pull in the driveway for Winco, and I saw the Crawdad sign. Well, it sounds like it's lunchtime!

We probably missed the lunch rush, because we were the only ones there for a while before some other customers came in. I got the catfish basket, my wife got a pound of crawdads and sweet potato fries. Now, my wife does not like catfish. She's kind of spoiled when it comes to fish, having grown up on the coast in Maine. She says fresh water fish tastes "pondy." After a bite of my catfish, I convinced her to try a taste. She like it. That says something. The breading was perfectly spiced, and it was cooked perfectly. Frozen or not, I don't care, it was good. She liked her crawdads a lot, go them with the garlic, no heat. I could smell the garlic from my side of the table, it was marvelous.

Our server, who's first name I neglected to get, but her last name was Nguyen, was a delight. She took good care of our every need, was very friendly, and we had time to chat with her about food all over the area.

We WILL be back. I need to try the clams...

I've been here only on one occassion. But I have been to other seafood in a bag restaurants. I placed an order for pick up. I was on my way to the location when I placed my order which was very easy. Upon arriving, I paid. I waited less than 5 minutes and my order was ready. The staff were incredibly nice and the service was super fast. I have no complaints there. What prompted me to give my experience such a low rating was the flavor of the food and the price for quantity of seafood that I received. Included in my order was half a pound of crab legs but I legitimately got 3 skinny legs; I didnt have a scale to weigh my crab legs but it did not seem like half a pound.

I also think that the speed of the preparation compromised the flavoring. There was little broth in my seafood bag and it was highly seasoned; meaning it was l undesolved and crumby. Perhaps it was all just thrown together, who knows.

I do feel that eating at the restaurant would make for a better experience. I would have to go again and have a sit down meal to give them...

Honestly the quality of the place and employees has drastically decreased since the last time I was here. It put such a bad taste in my mouth starting with them denying dine in service before it was even 8pm. Maybe that’s a new rule but it blows my mind when there were multiple other people sitting down who hadn’t been served yet. Additionally, the staff is so young and unprofessional. I would highly suggest taking your break somewhere other than the register and maybe hiring someone who actually wants to work and doesn’t just have a nasty face to greet customers with or who throw the napkin dispensers on the table disrupting the ambiance. They don’t even bring you the basic necessities to your table you have to ask them for everything. When another customer came to ask for the rice they ordered the employee screamed; “WHAT”… Poor. Poor experience and quality. Food wise; i don’t know if it’s the batter or the oil they use to fry but it tasted rancid. Extremely overpriced for the quantity. It’s not...
