Pho 88 Restaurant — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Our family has been a loyal customer of Pho 88 for over a year, but our recent experience was so disappointing that I can no longer recommend this place. We decided to visit for dinner, hoping for the same enjoyable experience we used to have, but instead, we were met with a frustrating and lackadaisical service that ultimately cost them our patronage.

It took over 20 minutes just to get our drinks, which was the first sign that the evening was not going to go well. We ordered four dishes, and after nearly 30 minutes, we only received three. Even after two separate reminders to our waiter, we were met with indifference. When the third reminder was made, the waiter casually approached our table with the check in hand, almost as if to brush off our concerns. It was only then that he realized the kung pao dish we ordered had never arrived. Instead of offering an apology or suggesting a solution, he merely shrugged and said, “Yeah, been trying to catch up.”

This lack of accountability and care was shocking. There was no effort to rectify the situation or even offer a simple apology for the mishap. As a result, my wife was left without dinner while I fumbled through my own meal. For anyone who is married, you know that’s a recipe for a...

The food was gross. The meat was stringy, tough, and absurdly thick for pho. The broth was gross and had a sour taste to it. Was served with dirty produce including yellow bean sprouts, dirty brown basil, browning lemons, and the cilantro in it looked like it was going bad and was cut huge. I even tried to add hoisin and sriracha. No help. The lady came over to my husband and I and we asked for the check and she even proactively asked us if everything was okay because we weren’t eating and we told her no and told her what was on her and she said we should’ve said something sooner and she was still charging us. 23 dollars for two smalls that we barely touched and asked for the check for. The food was ok, not the best. Horrible service, will never come back! It took forever for our food to come out and after I finished my meal the waitress gave me my bill and I paid in cash so I was just waiting for my change so meanwhile I put the tip on the table. The waitress was a older white lady, she then comes to clean up our table with me still waiting for my change! Then she takes the tip I left for her in front of me?
