So this is a tough review so I will try and explain why.
First things first the food was amazing and very plentiful. Owners/ managers seemed very nice and they took the time to meet the family and I.
The blooming onion roll was so good I had never had or seen one before. A must try.
Inside they have a bar area to eat at booths and small tables as well.
Tough spotsort version: all you can eat not worth it unless you are eating sashimi
So the family and I go there (6 people) to eat I see all you can eat for $28.99, I am so down and the wife as well. The server tells us in order to have all we can eat for just two persons we have to sit at small table or bar area. This doesn't work with 2 toddler so we ask how we can get a booth. Server tells us everyone gets all you can eat. So reluctantly we comply. Then the all you can eat has 3 rounds of ordering and a 90 minute limit from the time the first tray hits your table. I get it it's still all you can eat with a time limit.
Food starts coming out and it's good and a lot of it. I think it's one less slice compared to normal we're normal is 8 and AYCE is 7. The family and I are full. Like really ful. This is the time we talk to the people in charge and they seem very nice like previously stated. They gave the kids suckers and one explains how the all you can eat works. Saying I ordered to much on the first round. I guess we should have paced ourselves better. They charged me an extra 20 bucks for box's.
Don't get me wrong the food was good and the service was ok. I will probably go back but feel I was forced into and expensive meal because of toddlers, and not clear enough instructions.i get that the rules are to keep them profitable that's not really the problem it was more the way everything was explained.
I ended up paying 150 for the meal and I feel it was to high. I would have been better off ordering roll by roll.
Sorry for the long review explaining everything don't let it detour you from eating there, just the all you can eat (unless your ordering sashimi...
ย ย ย Read moreI would LOVE to give Love Sushi a better review. I ordered through DoorDash from this location (Coffee Rd.) due to the numerous great reviews. Unfortunately, the food was just, frankly, not very good.
Maybe I'm spoiled by really good Japanese food and sushi from elsewhere (in and out of Bakersfield)? Not sure ... but, my former boyfriend (a sushi chef trained in Japan) once told me that maguro (tuna) sushi should be red (not pink). He told me to "always notice the color" because it indicates freshness and quality of fish. Sadly, the spicy tuna hand roll from Love Sushi was nothing but a blob of pink mush (slightly spiced?) with rice ... no radish sprouts, no cucumber ... just really bland. Such a disappointment!
Additionally, we ordered and paid for Love Sushi's "Heart Attack" appetizer (spicy tuna, jalapeno, cream cheese) but it was not included in our delivered order (substituted with edamame, perhaps?). The edamame would have been $3.95 ... but we paid $7.95 for the appetizer. Disappointed. (Perhaps they had run out? They did not communicate with us, so we do not know. And if it was a substitute, perhaps one of their other appetizers closer in price to what we paid for could have been included? If it was a specialty, as an example, perhaps we'd be more impressed with their food.)
Ultimately, if you're looking for sushi in Bakersfield, my humble opinion (and no, I have not tried every sushi bar in town - but have eaten at Toro, Umi, Ichiban, and Love) would be to stick with Miyoshi at Coffee & Stockdale. Their fish is always fresh, their sushi chefs have been there for years and are highly adept and trained in the art of sushi preparation (which is a serious skill, requiring much training), and the food is always delicious. (Why do I keep trying other places? Next time --...
ย ย ย Read moreI am a HUGE FAN of this place... Last evening on the 21st of June ... the staff working was excellent. We were greeted with a kind and friendly staff. We were seated immediately and then began our menu choices. We ordered about 5 different Rolls.. Lobster ๐ฆ,Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna, Rainbow ๐Roll, California Roll and everything was AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS ๐.. the House sauce was very good AND the EEL sauce was to die for. We dipped almost every piece of sushi ๐ฃwe had in that wonderful sauce ๐... It was so good my buddy was like I could eat this stuff with my PANCAKES ๐ฅ๐๐๐ฝ.. it complimented out meal so well. The Chefs that prepared our meals were GREAT , so much in fact our Hostess made sure to tell them for us that we enjoyed every single bite of their food. I mean you cannot go wrong when you come to this place. The food is OFF THE CHARTS.. They also make a mean Sesame Chicken as well.. there is just so much to try and so many delicious menu items that you could come here for a long time and still find something new to eat. Thank you to the staff who worked last night because you guys were a wonderful experience. My Aunt said the girl with the pink in her hair was a very nice hostess and friendly and helpful. All the staff was. This little place gets 5 stars ๐from myself and my family. We hadn't been here in since 2019 with all that went on with Covid 19 in 2020. So it's fantastic to be back and to be eating some of our favorite foods again. If you want DELICIOUS Sushi ๐ฃand FOOD then look no further... this place might not be Huge BUT the food is MIGHTY Delicious and worth every penny. This is definitely the place to come and fill your belly with some great food and a nice time with your family...
