The Golden Ox at the corner of white ln. and stine is a great restaurant and a neighborhood establishment. The quaint decor is a homage to fast casual restaurants from the 50's and brings warmth and a sense of calm and tranquility to the overall dining experience. The food is at a wonderful price point making it possible to eat for as little as $2 and get a decent meal for around $4-$8. The street tacos are a taste of authentic mexican cuisine and the carne asada is some to the best in the category. With just the right balance of meat and fat the smokey grilled steak sings loudly and gracefully on the tongue, accompanied by a modest blend of white onion and cliantro to tie it all together and help to make their carne asada street taco a true standout in the category. My family has been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. My mother and her husband went 2-3 times a week. After he passed she still continued to go at least 2-3 times a month. Today my mother found a hair in her food, she spoke to two people about it. The first girl was newer and just threw the bowl of fruit away. The other person she talked to had been there for years and offered her a refund only to come back and say she could not refund it because the first girl lied and said that my mother had eaten almost all of it. The fruit was still piled above the top of the bowl. So, because their employee chose to lie, and they chose to believe that lie over a customer that has never complained or sent something back in the 25+ years she has gone there regularly, they just lost my familys business. It may seem small, but if they continue doing this to others they will lose more customers. I hope they catch the girl in a lie before she causes a lot of harm to...

Use to be a favorite but today ruined that I ordered my food on the phone 11:48 am and after tell my order was immediately hung up on. There was no telling of how long it would take or if I wanted to pay. I then proceeded to pick some stuff then arrived at Golden Ox to pick my Meal about 12:10. I paid for food and waited figure food would have been ready but waited then 12:40 hit and yet still waiting for food I then asked why my food was not ready upon arrival. They responded with well you need to pay on phone before they make your food. Which is weird cause have ordered before on phone and didn’t pay and food was ready. They responded with that morning rules not afternoon rules so sorry and walked away from me I was upset and embarrassed in front of other customers. So Sad to see such bad service at a place I loved.
