We visited tis restaurant yesterday 6/24 at around 5pm because we wanted to try something new. Nice reception and the place itself is nice. but:
The drink menu on the table was so sticky and dirty you didn't want to touch it, and the menu at the next tables was just as dirty. When the actual menus arrived and they were just as dirty and sticky, I wanted to leave. (Remember, if you can't have clean menus, you can't have a clean kitchen). My wife talked me into it and we ordered. Burrito without beans, 2 item and 3 item combo. The burrito of course came with beans and was very salty. the combos, small burrito, taco with chicken and tamales were just dry as the dessert. Even the lemon wedge was dry. Beef jerky is much more moist, even the lemon wedge was completely dry.
The beer was in a dirty glass, how could it be otherwise, I had it returned and was told that the glass had been in contact with the rim of another drink.
I don't understand how some things can dry on the glass in such a short time from the bar to the table? My daughter's fries were good and the waiter was very friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately, we all had to go to the bathroom several times during the night and the next day because we all had diarrhea. My tip: Go next door to Saltys for good food...
Read moreWait staff is very attentive and quick. Family style vinyl booth seating throughout the restaurant. I would characterize the food as Mexican comfort food for US Americans. The food is serviceable, but not exceptional. I tried to order a seafood item from the menu that was not deep fried and went with their Enchiladas Tampiquenas. Unfortunately, even in this dish, at least one of the ingredients was battered and deep fried. At least it tasted like it. If I were to go again, I would steer clear of the seafood and focus on their beef chicken or pork items, which are usually either grilled or stewed. The one standout for me was the salsa. Unlike the prepared dishes I ordered, the salsa had exciting flavor and a nice hot pop. The restaurant also has an extensive breakfast menu. To be honest, I would not recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Mexican style cooking. The less than formal dining arrangement and unexciting flavors make this restaurant ideal for families with picky children and folks looking to take a break from their travels and stop for a quick and...
