Rio Acai Bowls — Restaurant in Bakersfield

I’m a regular customer who comes in at least once a week, but I was very disappointed with my most recent visit. When I arrived, a woman was standing near the counter but moved aside as I walked up, so I assumed she had already ordered. I waited about five minutes without being greeted, even though Destiny was the only employee working at the time.

When Destiny finally came to help, she pointed to the woman (now behind me to the side ) and said she was next. I apologized, thinking she had already ordered since she had stepped aside. The woman then said I could go ahead (I recognized she owns the nail salon next door) and wasn’t in a rush. I thanked her and explained I was on my lunch break, and then placed a quick order for a small powerhouse açaí bowl.

However, Destiny then proceeded to go to the back and make the other woman’s (much larger) poke bowl first. I found this frustrating and inconsiderate, especially since the woman herself had said I could go ahead. Debating need to have a better attitude and maybe be more customer friendly and I think she purposely gave me the mushy gross bananas because I’ve never had band...

Food was only ok. Customer service sucked. On their website it says the poke bowls are $6 for a small, $9 for a medium, &$12 for a large. Got into the store and the prices are $9, $12, & $15. Not good business practice. Ordered a medium bowl and a bottle of unsweetened tea. It was expired by 3 months and tasted terrible. Walked up to the counter to ask to exchange for a new one. Male worker walks out from the back and up to counter and doesn't say anything to me at all, just starts to stock the shelf, and ignores me. I stand there for at least a minute, then the woman who took my order brings out my bowls, hands them over. Doesn't even say anything. She needs some customer service training. She must have been trained by the other worker. I ask for a new one, and get it. Poke was ok with a few pieces of nori, and only halfway full... I guess that's right? Skimpy for $12. It also had no real toppings, not like I've had in other shops... Won't be...

I want to preface my review by saying that I love their location on Panama, that’s where I usually go. 5/5 stars for there because you get a lot of fish for your poke and everything is cooked properly. However my first impression of the Calloway one is not great. The woman working was nice and the place is nice too but my order was not worth the money and unfortunately I’m on the other side of town otherwise I would’ve gone back to complain. The dish is mainly rice and the rice I was served was overcooked and burnt to the point it was rock hard. I could only eat half of it with the fish I was given. Taste-wise it’s similar to what I was used to (which is why I at least gave it 2 stars) and the tuna is tasty as usual but for $15 I expect properly cooked rice, not rock hard overcooked rice. Very...
