That Smash Shack — Restaurant in Bakersfield

Disappointed is an understatement.

That Smash Shack is slow, the food was unappetizing, and the fries were cold.

SLOW- There was only one person who received their food ahead of me and I waited 25 minutes for 4 burgers and 2 fries.

UNAPPETIZING- The burger meat was greasy and had no flavor. The American cheese cheapened the meal. Funny enough, the fries were over-seasoned and dried out. I think they had been sitting under a warmer because they weren’t fresh from the fryer.

COLD FOOD- both orders of fries were cold. We opened those containers right away and they weren’t warm to the touch. Normally, I have to let my fries cool off before digging in but I was considering taking them home to put in our air fryer.

Consider streamlining your processes to keep customer wait time down. Leaner meat (85%+) would be a better option for the burgers, we won’t be back because of the amount of grease. Fry your fries to order.

I review all sorts of businesses and give out all star levels. This unfortunately has been one of the worst ratings that I have given out. Please do better.

Tried the smashed burger with double meat, and honestly, it was underwhelming. The flavor was average, the burger was super greasy, and the bun was soggy by the time I got halfway through. For $34 for two meals during happy hour, it felt overpriced.

Service wasn’t great either—the guy at the front didn’t even open the window to take my order. It felt rushed and unprofessional.

The one saving grace? The fries. They were homemade and the sauce was chef’s kiss.

On a positive note, the food truck park where it’s located is actually a cool little spot—nice vibe and worth checking out for other options.

I don't leave reviews often. But I was on a road trip and I was quickly going to swing into In-N-Out, but they had a power outage, these these boys were set up just on the road in a food truck park. I'm not trying to be dramatic, I'm a foodie, I got the double combo and they blew me out of the water. The fries are absolute fire and they toss a little bit of their own seasoning on there and it is perfect with their custom thousand island style dipping sauce. The pictures don't lie.
