Aloha Hawaiian BBQ & Sushi — Restaurant in Baldwin Park

Walked in and the restaurant was dirty, but I got my food immediately so fortunately I didn't have to spent too much time inside. I got home and I was excited to get stuck into the macaroni salad. When I took a bite however, I couldn't taste much of anything aside from bland macaroni. What the macaroni lacked in flavor it made up for in mayonnaise. The macaroni was swimming in mayo, needless to say I was disappointed. I tried the rice to cleanse my palate but what I got instead was a mouthful of uninspired dry rice. The chicken katsu wasn't particularly good either but at least there was a lot of it. In the end, the food I decided to eat made me full, but not the kind of "good full" where you feel like you renewed and refreshed. Rather, I felt the kind of full that makes you reevaluate the decisions you made in your life that got you to the point where you are now; hot, uncomfortable and writing a review of a cheap Hawaiian bbq spot in your kitchen.

This review is temporary...This was my 1st time here. I've tried many Hawaiian BBQ spots and I always get the same dish Seafood Mix with all rice. The plate looked amazing. The price was about the same as every other Hawaiian BBQ, but the quality and taste wasn't worth the price of other places like ONO Hawaiian, L&L Hawaiian or even other Mom & Pop locations I've tried before. The issue I had was with the Mahi Mahi fish, it was really dry and hard as if it was over cooked or was cooked day before and used for my meal the next day. I went within 1st 30 mins of opening. Also I couldn't make it taste better with some Teriyaki Sauce because the sauce was really watered down almost like soy sauce consistently. That's when I got 😡. Was in the area for business nearby. I wanted to try this restaurant so I got their Hawaiian BBQ mix- BBQ chicken, beef, and short ribs and mix tempura- 3 shrimp and veggies. The meats were seasoned well. I asked for the meats to be cooked well done, I saw some char on the chicken but not up to my preference. The combo plate came with fluffy white rice, macaroni salad, and steamed veggies under the bbq meats. The tempura had a heavy batter which was not to my liking. Alisa at the cashier counter was nice and quick to take my order which was ready in 15 minutes. There are tables and chairs for casual dine-in, I opted take-out.
