My husband and I hosted our rehearsal dinner Friday, 9/9 at Artifact Coffee and the evening could not have been more perfect. Communicating with Jolanta was seamless from the very beginning. She was quick to respond to questions and helped us personalize a menu based on what our tastes are and what our guests would enjoy, especially with several vegetarians in attendance.
A few hours before, we dropped off some items to be used for setting up our dinner--some photos of us, place cards that also served as gifts for our guests, candles, flowers, and special champagne glasses for the bride and groom. That took only a few minutes and we were off for our rehearsal. When we arrived at the venue at 6:30pm, everything was set up so beautifully and perfectly. The venue itself is so rustic, cozy and quaint that it does not need much more decor, but the fact that we could bring our own flowers and candles not only cut down on costs, but helped make it more personal to us and our style. There is also plenty of parking which is a huge plus.
The service staff is so kind and friendly! They immediately began pouring us champagne. When choosing our menu with Jolanta, we told her we only wanted to serve wine and beer to try and keep the night a bit more tame since we all had a big day Saturday. This was totally honored and easy to maintain. For the appetizers we chose the Cheese Board: local artisanal cheeses, seasonal fruit, house-made preserves, honey, house baked crackers, and sourdough toast, as well as the Sweet Potato, Lettuce-Wrapped, Honey Ginger Soy. The staff kept everything moving and helped us stay on schedule. We sat down for salad and bread, and they served the Grissini & whipped ricotta and the Green Salad, Seasonal Berries, Local Nuts, Herb Vinaigrette.
For the main course, we chose two dishes that were served family style: Whole Roasted Chicken , garlic pan sauce and the Home made pasta, seasonal vegetables, white wine butter sauce. The sides were the Roasted Summer Vegetables with Rosemary & Garlic and the Salt Roasted Potatoes. Jolanta let us swap out certain veggies to ensure that we served what we preferred! For dessert, we did the sundae bar which came with a variety of toppings.
All in all, the food was absolutely delicious. Honestly some of the best food I have ever had. So fresh and appealing. Everyone was raving about it, and definitely appreciated the family style option. Wine was constantly served and our glasses were never empty. I will be sure to recommend Artifact Coffee to all my friends/contacts in the area to host their...
Read moreNestled next to an overpass and a decaying Pepsi factory, there stands an unsuspecting brick building with a hanging sign inscribed with the letter A on it. An A for Artifact, or perhaps the A is meant to embody the establishment's aspirations of setting the highest of standards for themselves.
The word artifact means, an object made by a human being, typically an item of cultural or historical interest. And that is precisely what the makers of this establishment have done. Artifact Coffee is culturally important to Baltimore, but historically their commitment to farm to table and culinary excellence is extraordinary!
Every time I sit down to eat and drink here, my senses are heightened to the fact that I am consuming REAL food and the best representation of that thing. I am not alone, neighborhood birds swarm the powerlines praying to whatever gods birds pray to that some person will drop a crumb of delicious sandwich bread from this hangout spot.
Not only is the food and beverages good, the people who work here are extensions of the establishment. I am genuinely grateful when I get to come in and see familiar faces, and they are always patient as orders are being conceptualized in the minds of patrons. The menu can be for some daunting which is a hilarious thing to contemplate given that it's printed on a double sided piece of paper. But you will want to take in every single thing before making your selection.
Artifact has given me over the years a deeper appreciation for the complexity of a cup of coffee and a surprising admiration for the deliciousness of vegetables. I am forever grateful for the memories I have built here, and I sincerely hope that Artifact outlives me to become a ripe old fossil....
Read moreWe love Artifact for their coffee and breakfast items. On Sunday morning, we placed an online order at 9 AM for pick up because we knew it can get busy and didn't want to wait in line. We received an email saying that we would get a text when our order was ready. When we got to Artifact, it was very busy with a long line and full tables. Because we received the email saying we would get the text and because we could see that the place was busy, we waited a long time as to not bother the staff by asking for our order. After 45 minutes of waiting, we finally decided to go up and ask about our order. It was only then that they started working on our order. Had we waited longer, we would have been there over an hour waiting for an order that wasn't even in the queue. We received our order shortly after asking about it. As always, their coffee and pastries are great. No complaints there. What is even more frustrating is that we received the text that our order was ready at 11:39 when we picked it up at 9:50. We understand that there are busy days and it can get hectic in the back end. However, they need to figure out the order ahead system or not offer pick up at all. If anything, at least make it a requirement to check in with the front staff when arriving at the location so the order...
