Okay, so boom… me & my partner moved to this area last year and have been wanting to try Big Bad Wolf BBQ.
Because #1 I’m from Alabama and lived in TN for 8 years so I love a good BBQ & #2 the little yellow building is so stinking cute!!!
Upon arrival, the inside of the place was as expected. Quaint little space. A normal sized counter where you can order your food. We decided to order a full rack of pork ribs with the Kansas City Sweet sauce & a side of the Kansas City spicy sauce. We also got the family style mac&cheese, potato salad, & candied yams (as seen in the pics). As well as the “Big Bad Wolf” sandwich. The wait was only 15 minutes.
Full rack of Pork Ribs - FALL. OFF. THE. BONE. You do NOT need teeth to eat these. The Kansas City sweet sauce didn’t have as much depth as the spicy sauce so I’d say I preferred the spicy sauce. But these were REALLY good. I’d def go back for the ribs.
“Big Bad Wolf” - my partner got this and said it had the makings of a REALLY good sandwich. The meat, sauce, etc. was really good. But the bread tasted old, like it had been sitting around. But they still ate the whole thing so that tells you how good the meat was. They did say the XXX sauce wasn’t spicy at all.
The sides - the mac&cheese was cooked really well, you could tell it was baked, but it lacked seasoning and could’ve been a bit more cheesy. The candied yams were good. The potato salad had so much color (as seen in the pic) it looked like it was gonna be punchy as far as flavor goes however, it was bland. The cornbread was dry and tasted like it had been sitting out for a couple of days & it was too sweet for my taste.
All in all, I think folks should definitely stop by and try the ribs and/or the big bad wolf sandwich!!!
MKT price March 24th 2024 was $31.99 for pork & $38.99 for beef ribs. The sandwich was $11.99 and the sides were $6.99ea for family size which was big,...
Read moreFirst of all you never know who is buying your food or products I will just say that . Meaning I could be a person that does food reviews or content.( Hint ) I know every one has different taste buds . Someone loved this place on YouTube. I love great barbecue so I said let's go . 45 minute drive from my location but hey if it's worth it I will go . Very familiar with the area just never heard of the place once I get ti location . Parking horrible no point intended i go inside two older white males reason I mentioned color because the way I was treated on Harford Rd I was shocked. The place is very small and at the time I was the only customer in there . After the uncomfortable blank stares I am looking at the menu and I told the guy with the glasses I was there because of a YouTube shout out he said how far did you come I said about 45 mins. So I didn't feel any kind of friendliness the kind that male you want to come back . The have Ribs and chicken sides collard greens oh in brisket . Alot of different sauces. I said give me a half of slab of rib and a barbecue beef brisket sandwich. This review is long but it's the truth I will never go back the price was 30 dollars I will pay and tip if the food is worth it but this was horrible. The guy cooking never said a word I should had video it . Service was bad the brisket was bland and the roll was a kaiser but cheap quality it crumbled apart .The ribs were edible even had the smoke ring did it fall off the bone no but the flavor was just not there . I have cooked better ribs my damn self in my oven at home with my homemade sauce. This place is horrible . Did covid not teach us as people anything be a little kinder the next minute is not promise and my God if you don't like your job find another . Show you customers you want them to come back and I appreciate your business. This...
Read moreI hadn’t been to this place in a long while. After my last visit, now I know why. You can find better Bar b que in chain restaurants.
I ordered ribs (beef and pork) and brisket to go. I also ordered coleslaw and greens after tasting the Mac and cheese and potato salad. I requested that I be shown my orders before I left. What I received was 2 types of meat (both ribs) smothered in so much sauce, I couldn’t tell what was what until I tried to eat them. I started to complain about the amount of sauce, but since I couldn’t see the food prep area, I decided to chance it. BIG mistake.
The beef ribs were cut across the rack so that there were 3-5 bones in each piece. They were so thin that they weren’t even as thick as my baby finger; and I have small hands. The ribs were so tough and dry that they couldn’t be eaten. The meat crumbled when bitten into; and was visibly stringy; or they were so hard they couldn’t be bitten into.
The ribs were unseasoned (no spice rub), bland, perhaps because they had either been parboiled, then placed on the grill to infuse some smoke and get grill marks. The cheapest grade of meat was used, began to dry out when placed on the grill. It was only as thick as the bone; there was no extra meat. Nothing fell of the bone. In fact, the meat was so tough that you had to bite into the meat and pull it away from the bone. What you didn’t include in a bite remained on the bone.
The brisket and coleslaw were the best items ordered. The greens were from a can without additional seasoning. They gave little pieces of cornbread with each protein.
If it wasn’t for the fact that it would have cost me almost as much (round trip) to take the food back as the total amount paid ($40), I certainly would have taken everything back. Instead I took very...
