Taste This — Restaurant in Baltimore

Ordered 4 platters; one was missing...had to go back in and wait. A bit unorganized inside. Long wait. Food quality and taste isnt anything to write home about, buts it's cheap on the pocketbook so that balanced it out I guess. Portion of sides are good and they give you a bit of rice under the meat which is not counted as a side. One platter ordered was the stuffed grilled catfish...their version of stuffed is throwing barely any crabmeat on top of the fish and smothering it with cheese and sauce. Their menu doesn't state that it has cheese if its "stuffed" so if you dont eat dairy like myself, you will lose the tiny bit of crabmeat that is on top of the piece of fish because they've melted the cheese on top of it to keep it secured to the fish; luckily the "stuffed" version was only 3 bucks more so not a huge loss, but still a disappointment because now I don't have the grilled stuffed catfish that I actually wanted. I absolutely would not have ordered it had I known it was prepared that way and with cheese. The fish portions are small, especially the salmon...kind of like the little single pouches you can buy in the dollar or grocery store for no more than 5 bucks per piece-very thin and small. The catfish was very oily as if it was cooked in a pan with oil instead of actually being grilled. The salmon wasnt grilled either, maybe baked or thrown in a pan; wasnt as oily as the catfish as it was actually kind of dry on top. Two of the platters were the grilled salmon, one stuffed catfish and the other BBQ chicken. The person eating the chicken always eats it from there and he loves it. Note also that the only vegetable without meat is the asparagus and corn on cob. The greens, string beans and cabbage all have turkey or chicken cooked in them. They dont offer salad as a side choice with the platter. The rice is good. The garlic mash is decent, but a bit dry. I prefer more garlic, but it's still not bad, so if you dont like a lot of garlic but wanna taste it a little then these will be good for you. The yams taste strongly of cinnamon, too much for me; they are also on the sweeter side which some may find too sweet if it wasnt for the overpowering cinnamon. Personally, I will not eat from this establishment again. The food quality is below what I'm used to and am willing to spend my money on when the food we cook at home is better. The only plus for someone who may not care as much about the quality is that it was cheaper then other places where you would spend $20-25 minimum for a fish platter and here you're paying just under $15 if its not "stuffed". I'm not trying to bash at all, just leaving an honest review. I heard good things about this place, but unfortunately they just didnt live up to my personal...

CALLING ALL FOODIES!!! LISTEN UP IF YOU IN THE BALTIMORE AREA or IF you travel for food like me!! .....THIS PLACE RIGHT HERRRRRR......Ooooo!!! It says it in the name....TASTE THIS YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED...period!

Stuffed Salmon Hennessey Rib Spicy Chicken Jerk Lamb chops Sweet Tea & Lemonade......CRAZY!! JUST EXCELLENT I TELL YA!!! Mac & Cheese...cheesy as all get out! Mashed potatoes....yummm Yams...like grandma's you can eat solo they so good... Yellow Rice....tender String Beans...yummm

Cabbage... was cool. Could have been chopped more & a smoked turkey but that's me. My only issue...Rib was too fatty for me...can't do it...all else excellent.

Salmon cooked to perfection ...PERFECTION...I had to ask who cooked this??? & HATS OFF!! Chicken Breast Strip thick and tender..no gristle! Lamb Chop fell off the bone and the jerk danced on ya tongue and went down smoothly.....ooooo Jesus!! I ate for 3 days!! & can we say GOOD ON THE REHEAT!!! You know you got good food when that reheat hits the same as when you 1st ate the meal if not better...Yeah... uh huh you know!! I ordered 4 meals as it was a celebration, my moms bday & we decided to go here last minute and we have not stop talking about the experience since and plotting return soon. Staff was Amazing....AMAZING...thank you Lovetta & Mama D!!! Awesome food Awesome service & they made mommies day!!! I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE AND CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN!

My mom said the experience reminded her of the movie with Queen Latifah called Last Holiday as we sampled and tasted everything like there was no tomorrow!!!

This was an excellent spot in the middle of dreary Baltimore. We were traveling, and you can only eat so much fast food and gas station pick up. We needed real home cooked food. We both did fried shrimp baskets, but they were very accommodating and let me change my fries for collard greens. I ordered a second dinner of stuffed salmon with sweet potatoes and stringbeans. This food was so delicious. The shrimps were succulent and plump, and the fries surprised us ,I dont usually eat fries is why I substituted for Collards but they weren't regular fries, they weren't crispy but they were very delicious and seasoned well. I ate my brothers all up! Collards were just like my grandma's, smoked turkey seasoned them, and they had a marvelous tender chew to them. We ate the stuffed salmon when we reached our destination. It was enough for two adults. The salmon was moist and cooked perfectly to our liking. The crabmeat stuffing was delightful! The candid yams were so good I didn't share. The string beans were like my mommas, oh so tender and good, and for dessert, although it wasn't supposed to be, we had Eggnogg cornbread! I had never, and upon God, I have fallen in love with eggnog cornbread! We even had a chance to meet the chef before we departed, which was special to meet the person who's hands lovingly cooked all that food. We were made to feel special and I appreciate that especially when you are on the road the world can seem big and cold but that little place changed our dreary visit to a bright shining moment on a snow flurry day! Thank you all, we will be back!
