Just went to the new and improved Winks Drive-In located in Barberton! It's a little bit of a hike from my house, but totally worth the drive!!!
We decided to go into the restaurant, where you get to pick your table. The wait staff was very accommodating and came up to our table right away and helped explain the menu to us!! We were surprised by all of the different options added to the menu!!
I ended up ordering an absolutely delicious mocha shake, the "Amazin' Blazin'" burger that is really spicy with Carolina Reaper Cheese and I had them add Jalapenos to it to make it even spicier! It was spicy and had excellent flavor!! I also ordered a coney dog with the chili, onions, and nacho cheese, I had to let the coney dog cool down a little bit because it came right off the grill, but it was outstanding! I also ordered a side of onion rings and wanted to try their mini corn dogs, and that was delicious too. For dessert they offered "Loaded Ice Cream Nachos" that had little discs of waffle cones with vanilla ice cream, and we got to add two additional toppings!! It was a little messy, but the ice cream was great and it was a very unique and fun thing to order especially since I got to pick the toppings.
Definitely recommended! You can tell this place is new and they are still training their staff, the staff was very polite and patient with us, you can tell they really care about...
Read moreWas overall pretty underwhelmed from the experience. As soon as we ordered they made us pay up front and prompted to ask for a tip… before they did anything. Felt very forced and awkward. Anyway, food was very mediocre. Burger did not taste like anything other than being very salty. The fried sides were all just basic frozen ones, certainly nothing to write home about.
Overall, this feels like they are trying to be Swensons but they aren’t. Prices are far higher than Swensons (double cheeseburger is $8 here), Swensons tastes significantly better, and I am not asked to give a $6 tip before my server does anything. Overall we spent $36 on 2 burgers (1 single and 1 double), 3 sides (we wanted to try things out as it was our first time - fries were very meh, mushrooms were just your basic frozen breaded mushrooms Swenson’s uses, and onion rings which were okay) and 1 Diet Coke. Definitely not a great value proposition. Even the menu looks exactly like Swensons menu…
In my opinion, you’d be far better off going to Swensons, getting tasty food, spending less money, and actually happy to tip the servers running around rather than getting asked to tip before they even...
Read moreWe were in the mood for a burger and root beer float. I've found they are not consistent. A manager, a few months, ago said they train the staff to prepare the ice cream in a cup and bring a bottle of their root beer. This evening the ice cream made it with a little bit of root beer in the glass. We asked the waitress about it and she said she was new. Another fellow brought us a bottle for both orders. It seemed to me, a single order would be the cup of ice cream and a bottle of root beer. We ended up with two ice cream cups and one bottle. Neither staff members saw a problem with their solution. This has now happened twice. Their stock goes down with their inconsistencies. It's not worth the trouble asking to fix the order. One comical anecdote that the uninvolved staff didn't notice: Their large screen TV's were playing a sportsman show. We looked up and a women just shot an elk. The next scenes showed her and her boyfriend skinning it. The ambiance for fine dinning was out the window (if it was ever in the room). Thank goodness for...
