I was very disappointed with my latest visit. It was post lunch on a Wednesday and restaurant was not busy and it was filthy. There was food and napkins on the floor as you walked through the main area to seat ourselves on the patio as we were told. My foot actually slipped a bit on the dirty floor. There were several large delivered boxes stacked up on top of tables on both sides of the hallway leading into and out of the front door. The patio was a mess with trash on the ground and the tables that were open had plates and glasses basically full of food that had been sitting there for a while from the looks of them. It took probably almost 10 minutes for someone to come out and clean the tables off. Our young male server showed up a few minutes after and was less than helpful with a couples questions my sister and I had. I asked If they had an NA beer and was told he didn't think so. No offer to find out. My sister asked about the salad dressing choices and he again wasn't sure but did not offer to find out. He did know they were not listed on the menu. I walked into the sparsely staffed bar area myself and was told yes, they do have an NA beer choice. I ordered the Reuben which I had ordered in the past and was disappointed. The bottom piece of toast was do soggy I had to eat my sandwich with a knife and fork. The fries which I had to upgrade to from chips were crispy but under seasoned and there were no seasonings on any of the tables. I was extremely disappointed in my experience and food after having had good experiences in the past. The staff who I encountered seemed bored and bothered and the cleanliness of the entire restaurant was lacking and unappealing. The food was subpar this visit. From this recent experience I could not recommend to anyone to eat there. I had in the past. Also as my sister and I were leaving an employee was blocking the side exit steps from the patio by sitting on them while on their cell phone. Not a good look. For the increasing costs of eating out and it being a treat to myself now a days I was extremely disappointed I spent my money on such a subpar experience. If my sister had not been with me I would have left after seeing the dirty, unkempt main room, let alone the unbussed tables on the patio....

Traversing through bourbon country, Kentucky, the beau starts claiming sudden faintness due to starvation. I figure since we are going to the self proclaimed "most beautiful small town in America" Bardstown, we will find a quaint little diner on Main Street! Well, we didn't, but right around the small town square is Mammy's Kitchen & Bar. Fancy little barn and stable turned restraunt, with a real heart warming story on the menu that will make you feel like you belong in this quintessential story of come uppance. Although there are plenty of folk artsy farm critters, pics of the good Ole Days, and cute, rustic country signs.....the clientel look straight up like the richest country folks you could ever meet! Should've known as we didn't pass one dilapidated house or trailer park in all of Bardstown, and the folks at the gas station weren't playing banjos and still had all their teeth! Despite the stares from a full house of upper class, yall sure don't fit in round these parts, compatriots, the greeter had us seated within 5 mins. Due to the packed house I figure these folks must be doing something right, inside my head I am thinking "if I don't have enough to pay will this turn into a Deliverance situation?" I did the best I could and ordered water while deciding I will just get the cheapest thing on the menu. My boyfriend and I get our water and notice well holy horses, these prices are quite affordable! The variety is a real plus too, considering we are both rather picky eaters. While awaiting our order I am watching these enormous plates of food showing up at tables around us, I mean massive portions that could feed even the most hardworking teenaged farm boy! 15 minutes tops and we are enjoying our own big Ole plates of food. I can say this much I felt as if I would burst. I highly recommend the Philly Cheese Steak with Tots, my fella on the other hand says everyone needs to try the good Ole Kentucky Hot Brown Burger. Yea, I said it Hot Brown, on a burger folks. Country greatness for under 25 buckaroos for two really hungry folks. Mammy's, Imma be coming back, next time I ain't getting water, but I will try some of that pie! Safe travels folks,...

My friend and I had a girl's day in Bardstown and she had been here when she was younger so we decided to stop for dinner. There was going to be a 30 to 45 min wait which was no problem. They took my name and number.

They called after about 30 minutes, using my name and I said we'd be right in. We walk in about a minute later and the girl at the counter gave us a weird look. I said my name is Lauren, you just called. She looked at the other girl and said, "they need silverware." They both walked away. A different girl came up and said can I help you. I said we were waiting to be seated. She asked my name again. The first girl came back and said, they need silverware. The girl came up with the silverware finally. We stood there another minute and they finally sat us at the table that had been empty the whole time. They all had attitudes and it made it very uncomfortable as we were friendly and just coming in because they called. Weird start.

I ordered the southern blt which was essentially half toasted bread with about an inch thick of pimento cheese, 2 little pieces of bacon and 3 teeny fried green tomatoes. The green beans had a long chunk of slimy pork fat. It was alright. I ordered the smothered pork chops to go for my husband. He said the sauce was good but the pork chops were less than a quarter inch thick. For almost 20 dollars he expected them to be a little thicker.

The prices were a bit surprising. An appetizer of literally just onion rings is 15 dollars. Thankfully my pimento cheese sandwich was only 10 lol.

Our server had gorgeous red hair and was as sweet as can be, the only good part of going aside from spending time with my friend.

Overall, I won't be back. It was uncomfortable and the food was nothing to write home about. I've lived in ky for 5 years and have had some incredible southern food. This is not one of them. I'm assuming the good reviews are from people that haven't had much true southern food. Just go...
